NEW YORK -- Menswear, which has been on a dressier road in recent seasons, appears to be merging onto a new road next spring.

And the view ain't pretty.

Actually, the problem is, much of it is pretty.

Carlos Campos provided the first and most vivid glimpse of the trend during the first day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week when he sent out a collection featuring abbreviated and fitted shorts, scoop-neck sweaters in canary and turquoise, skinny pants in white and lilac, sweaters and jackets in feminine shades of purple, short Riviera scarves tied snugly about the neck and suits that appeared two sizes too small.

Clothing for men that isn't the same boring, shapeless, colorless blob?  No, we can't have that.

I like the classics when it comes to men's clothing. I would want my guy in a button down shirt with some buttons undone, a classic blazer, slacks, and a great pair of Italian leather shoes. A dark hair guy with a nice, classic cut, red shirt, black blazer and slacks...mmmmm.... 

Sweaters for the holidays and lounging around the house. Of course leather for more...playful times.

The mod 60's look had a "feminine" look too, adjusted pants and thigh waist adjusted coats (obviously, not good for anyone with even slightly overweight).
Brit issue London fashion was way cool in the second half of the 60's.

I really see nothing new in fashion, men or women, just recycling.

Colors for men are still quite drab, compared to the 60's (psychedelic fury :-), 70's (polyester heaven) and early 80's (new romantics, man they had feminine fashion).
