Testosterone pellets. San Francisco

Hi all,
I'm not sure if we are allowed to discuss HRT but my question is not about the dozage, but about where to get it.

I'm tired of weekly shots, so I'd like to switch to pellets. But I don't know anything about it.
Questions:
Is there only testopel who makes/sells it?
On the testopel website I found 4 prescribers in San Francisco. Does it mean that I have to go there to get the prescription? None of them will be covered by my insurance.
Is there anyone on pellets around San Francisco? I'm going to switch my insurance and if you can recommend the plan that covers it, you're welcome.

I will talk to my endocrinologist in a couple of days, but I don't think she has any info either

You can look up compounding pharmacies and implants.
They send even international to endos/doctors.

There might be endos who use it, or you might talk to your endo.

Or your endo might ask the compounding pharmacy. There are some leaflets from the pharmacies concerning use etc.
The pellets are available in different sizes, and even for cis men with low testo often more than one is used.

John O'Dea has an office in San Jose, you might try him. He is all about the pellets. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him after two and a half years of wonderful treatment with pellets.

There are leaflets with studies etc from compounding pharmacies.
And there is info material from them, like how its applied, etc.
There is also info out there for health care providers.

John O'Dea has an office in San Jose, you might try him. He is all about the pellets. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him after two and a half years of wonderful treatment with pellets.

Can you tell me a bit more about pellets? How long do they last, how much do they cost, are there any side effects, etc.?
I am thinking about visiting Dr. O'dea but would like to learn a bit more before switching from injections to pellets.

Hi Diana- Pellets seem to last about 4-6 months depending on dosage, they cost about $75/per (if memory is correct), no side effects that I am aware of. The ballpark price I mentioned is for E pellets, not sure if T is different (to stay relevant to this thread).

I would set up a consult with Dr. O'Dea if you have more questions. He is very knowledgable about them! He can also do treatment the same day as the consultation (this is at his discretion, if you have underlying health conditions he might require blood work).

There are also bioidentical progesterone pellets... some say there might be a higher risk of extrusion...
literature says an intramuscular implantation might help... do you have any experience with progesterone pellets ?

Thanks so much for your reply. I've read some of you other post regarding Dr. O'dea and you mentioned you had 12E and 1P pellet inserted. Does this mean it cost you  $ 975 per visit every three months? Sorry to ask so many questions, I'm really trying to switch but pellets seem a bit out of my budget at this time :-(

Could you describe there or here if there are any problems with extrusion of the progesterone pellets and if they work well ?
