So yesterday, it finally arrived. My final confirmation packet! I read through it all, a bit of it was oddly worded, but I made it through just fine. I thought I may help those who will have these surgeons.

+ Document says to Initial Blue Copy, but office would like it signed.  Don't sign any of the white paper.
+ Payment does not say wire is acceptable for payment (however, after spending since 10am this morning until now, this seems to be the only way to pay in CAD for anybody living in the United States).
+ Email Suzanne for wire instructions, when you get your packet. She will send you a pdf.

............................................Wireing instructions..................................................
Concerning Number of Account XXXXX-YYY-#######

  • "Transit Number" is the "XXXXX-YYY" portion. (5digits-3digits)
  • "Account Number" is the "#######" portion (7digits)
+ Recipient Bank will have a different address than that provided, that's the headquarters. The transit number should ensure it gets to the local branch in Montreal.
+ A fee will be taken out your CAD payment. Make sure you add a little more that the surgery cost to pay for this fee.
  • Example: Currently the rate for surgery is $20,000 CAD. When initiating the wire, they took out 15 CAD which did not cover it. So I had to pay $20,0015 CAD to offeset the fee. (Kind of stupid really, they should just include it in the wire transfer fee.)
+ Wire transfer fee (for foreign transaction) will most likely be between $35-$60 depending on your bank.
+ I left a Message to Recipient of "Payment for GRS <insert full name here>", just in case
............................................Wireing instructions..................................................

So hopefully I will get confirmation that they have received payment on June 14th and I can book my flight and fill our my itinerary form to send with my blue forms all at once. Right now, my biggest concern is that the wire went to the wrong place, as that was pretty much my life savings. I will let everyone know what happens.

Wishing that nobody else has to waste an entire day on what should have been a fairly simple process. Found out that you shouldn't speak to the bank teller, they don't know and will just tell you there is no way to do what you are asking.  Western Union and others can only send a money order in USD.  The USPS has foreign money orders, however; they are only issued in USD.  You should speak to a bank broker (person sitting at a desk if you want any help).  And that the form provided to you from Brassard's office lists the transfer number and account number on the same exact line, with the only thing before it telling you the entire thing is the account number. Good luck to all the rest of you girls. I'm tuckered out for the evening.

A couple points of note here:

-I signed the blue copies FrostPixie mentioned and initialed where it said to.  Rather than pay international postage, I scanned them in and emailed them to Josee.  She was fine with that.
-I HIGHLY recommend the wire transfer option for payment.  My credit union charged me a $50 fee for each transfer (I did 4 transfers over 5 months).  I calculated it pretty good using the Bank of Canada 'daily currency converter'.  I have overpaid 23.24 Canadian Dollars.  Suzanne wanted to mail me a check, but I told her just give it to me when I get there. ;)  Make sure you check the box for 'Use cash rate' to get the accurate amount that the bank transfers.  For instance, if you are trying to pay $20k Canadian in one lump sum, then:

Thanks for the information ainsley! I also wanted to let everyone know that i finally got a confirmation from their office that the wire went through. It seems hit or miss on their response times. So i can finally breathe a sigh of relief in knowing i have surgery soon (Aug 24)!

Tip for money saving: you will most likely want to fly back home with no additional stops for your health.  However, when i decided to book my flight to their office, i saved about $100 with a stop in toronto then to montreal.

One question i have for those who have been there. Should i purchase cotton panties? And if so, what style for best comfort. Currently i wear boycut style made of nylon/spandex blends. I can't wait until next summer when i can go out in public in a cute swimsuit :3

FrostPixie : When I was there, they provided these mesh "surgical underpants" for the duration of the stay. So you'd only be buying panties for the trip home. If you do want to do that, I recommend as cheap as possible and something you won't mind ruining, briefs or maybe boyshorts style (you will need to be able to wear a bulky pad in them), about a size larger than you usually wear (to account for swelling and comfort). Brassard suggested white as well, both to easily track bleeding and because they're easiest to bleach clean and sterilize. I bought about a dozen pairs and it was six months or so before swelling went down enough to fit in my old size, so I got my money's worth at least. :)

Congrats on finalizing the plans!

Congrats!!!! Dr. B is amazing and learned from the absolute best!!!
It's a little disconcerting getting it all set up because of the language barrier/foreign country thing, but they take excellent care of you there. The clinic is phenomenal and you'll be treated like a queen--and the recovery house is just gorgeous--a home away from home....and every single need you have will be taken care of and then some. They even gave us flowers and candy because we were there on Valentine's day!! I can't say enough good things about them, and I know you'll be thrilled with your results!!!
Hugs,
JS
