My daughter had a barbecue at her place on July 4th it was the first time I have seen my son in-laws parents in about a year. I knew my daughter and her husband had talked to them about me but I wasn't sure how they would react when they met me. I was somewhat nervous when I first got there it was also the first time I wore a skirt in public so I was a little on edge. I saw them sitting out on the patio so I decided to just walk out there and say hi they looked a little perplexed at first but I sat down with them and started talking with them; they were really impressed with the amount of weight I lost I told the I had lost about 190 lbs one of them said it was like losing another person I told them I didn't like that guy anyway they laughed at that and conversation changed to other things. My wife told me later that she talked to them they said that I seemed much happier and more open and that they saw that this was a positive thing for me. I was worried that it could of gone the other way my son in laws father is a 6' 7'' alpha male type and I have always been afraid of guys like that. I have been very fortunate so far with my transition I know that's not the case for a lot people.  I also realized that I really like wearing a skirt.

You wouldn't have been ask to come or they wouldn't have come if they outright rejected you. On the other hand I think you tipped the scales in your favor by showing them that this has made you a better person. Few people know the old me and the the ones that did saw me change over time so the difference isn't as noticeable as this.
You handled it well.

Ditto what Dena said. Confidence is key no matter what. I'm glad it went well for you. :)
