When did you start changing your wardrobe?

Just curious as I am getting really anxious to wear something I like. I work a lot a and I am always home. So I don't really wear anything but work clothes and my sleep wear. It's only been 5 months since I started transitioning (well sort of), but I haven't really paid much mind to clothing til now.

I have really really bad foot problems so I am avoiding all women footwear for now (until I get better). Although, I really only like ballet flats :/ as far as footwear goes. CURSE YOU FEEETTT!

What kind of clothing do people usually start when buying new stuff. When I hit 3 months of HRT I really do plan to buy something but I am really sure what looks okay at that point... :( so far HRT hasn't change much beside my legs..

My mum bought me a few things the day after coming out, but it was only a few weeks for me before shopping went from boy stuff to girl stuff.
I'm talking basics, jeans, tees, jumpers, over the next few months that built my wardrobe to the point where I had more female clothes than male.
Yes! I'm single
And you'll have to be pretty f'ing amazing to change that

Thanks for the ideas!

I had a similar event with my mom.. She donated almost 75% of my wardrobe since she loved to buy me polos and manliest clothing she could think of... So glad she donated as I never wore any of them. At least someone will find use of them. I didn't get any new clothing though.. X( I actually have 5 shirts outside of my work and pajama shirts. 2 jeans, 1 short (Which I want to donate now), and 5 gym shorts from high school (I actually like gym shorts and they are really short on me)

Oh and thanks for naming blouses... I totally forgot about them >< I guess I'll start of with blouses and tees as it wouldn't be a bad idea.. time to google leggings..

>w< I wish I had the money to buy all the ballet flats I want honestly..

I'm attempting to build a wardrobe, but since I don't present as female in public yet, it's mostly been through online shopping.  Haven't had a whole ton of luck yet though since it's been hard to guess what size in what brand I would be.  It seems the majority of the time I buy based on their measurements the clothes end up too big or too small.

Once I'm out and starting to publicly present as female, I'm hoping to have more than a few outfits to wear.  I'm more running into the issue of not knowing where to start.

That's actually what I've been trying to shop for too.  I work in an office setting, so once I'm presenting as female, some modest dresses shouldn't be all too extreme.  I'm not a fan of jeans, so I've been leaning more toward skirts/dresses as my main focus right now.

It's funny how I get frustrated when Amazon sends me a daily email and it's about men's clothing.  I never look into those ones and I've never bought men's clothing from them, but I occasionally get emails about dresses and shoes that I check into.

I started about the same time I started HRT. I think at first it was a bunch of panties, so I could at least have something feminine on without it being noticeable. Then I think I got cute jammie pants to wear around the house. Maybe two months in I started going shopping with my mom since I was still uncomfortable in the women's section alone, and I got some jeans. Got a small simple purse with skulls on it around that time and started carrying it with me regularly. Three months in I sometimes went out a bit mixed, like women's jeans and a guy shirt plus my purse. Didn't want to draw too much attention to myself. But this was the point of male-fail as I was getting ma'am'd and wasn't really trying to pass. Once I reached that point, I got more female clothes. Some rather blatantly female stuff. Got my eyebrows done and I was passable except for my voice. Got some high-heels and stuff like that too. I tried taking it slow but it all happened pretty quick. So about three months in I had enough clothes for a week. And then I ordered or bought quite a lot more clothes, especially because I was going on a trip. 4.5 months in, I went full-time and had enough clothes for a week and a half to two weeks, and over time I've just added from there.

Well I don't really intend to go out with any clothing until I am at least somewhat passable.. My body shivers just from the idea of it.. :S By then I think dresses would be fine no?

I get that same feeling too.. I am not really excited to wear jeans. Dresses on the other hand gets my full attention. I wish amazon's  prices weren't so high otherwise I would love to shop on amazon.. as I trust them 100% and never gotten a problem with them

The main reason I shop on Amazon right now is their return policy.  I pretty much exclusively order things that have their free return policy since I currently have a hard time finding a style I like that fits how I want it to.  It's fantastic because I can usually just ship it back in the same package they sent it in if it doesn't fit.  The way I look at it is if I had to pay for even return shipping on my purchases (much less a restock fee or only partial refund), I'd probably be out twice the value of the items I've kept from my Amazon clothes purchases.

Oh, and Ashley, I pretty much forgot about panties.  I can't even remember the last time I wore men's underwear since that was something I could switch to feel more feminine without anyone ever being able to notice.  Victoria's Secret's "Panty Party" sales were my best friend while building that part of my wardrobe.  After shipping, it usually turned out to be less than like $35 for 7 pairs with a bunch of different styles to pick from.

I went with my mom and ended up bailing out >< I got so nervous I remember slightly crying..
I wish I could wear heels in the future, but my feet might be too sensitive for the rest of my life. Sometimes I wonder how bad my genes are...

So do I  8) so do I

I think I going to try it out... I am definitely avoiding the fact that not all the styles might look good on me X( Maybe it would be a god time to learn my shoe size.........

OH Leggings! Wait what are the ones that cover the foot as well called?? I love them but am not a fan of having bare feet as I sweat a lot :S

Heh, well.. took some getting used to, but one day I realized it was no big deal and that I was shopping alone without being paranoid. And don't worry much about height. I've seen some taaaall women out there and they own it. I actually shrunk from HRT. Went from 5' 11" to 5' 8" so now I feel okay wearing 5" heels. It's nice to be able to strut along towering over everyone but then go back to a more modest height by taking them off. Plus, if people see tall heels on you, it doesn't really matter what height you start at, they'll just assume you're tall because of them.
