What are the steps on getting Medicare as nyc finally covers SRS

So I'm so happy cause nyc and other states under law cover SRS through Medicare,my question is how do of about applying,do I have to change my name as far as gender first or can I just apply for Medicare as usual,please HELP..

Thanks I know I get them confused .my question is do I just go ahead an apply without changing my gender name.also is there any helpful information I should know on applying as I want to do this correctly ,thanks soooooo much

Do you meet the income criteria? Medicaid has certain limits.

You need to go to your local HRA (welfare) office and ask them..

Do you even have your two required letters for SRS? If you have not changed your name that seems to me you are not living full time which is required for one year to get the letters.

Also from what I understand, private insurers in NYS are required to cover SRS as well.

As far as I know Medicare is the only group NOT covering SRS. This is contrary to their policy update last year. No U.S. surgeon will accept the paltry amount they want to reimburse surgeons. Sucks!

Thans all I figured it out,I just had to go ahead an apply,already in the works!!!!!!
Sooooooo HAPPY......NYC MEDICAID covers ALL...
