I research so much about the 2 that it drives me nuts. Ultimately it sounds more like you won't know til you do it. There's always that one review that says hair came back and it brings me back to square one. My says laser but I'm scared that it won't be permanent and it will be 400$ down the drain... How do most people go about it?

I would think your dark hair and light skin would make you a good candidate for laser.  I had 7 sessions of laser (not on face) but my hair is lighter and it didn't really do much for me.  I've never had electrolysis, but judging by others' comments, if you can get some success with laser it's well worth it.

I agree based on skin and color of hair you should be a good candidate for laser. Hugs

100% laser.  :D You're perfect for it, and you'll see results even after 1 session (but remember it can take 8 - 10 sessions to have it all gone permanently).  Start right now.

Hi!

I agree for laser too, because of the contrast of colors between hair and skin which seems optimal on you... but, another thing you could consider is that laser is not as precise and definitive as electolysis can be since laser is randomly applied both in terms of treated area and depth the light can go into, while electrolysis is killing hair by hair with no possible zombie... finally, laser is very discomfortable while electrolysis is true nazi torture, try it once and you will like laser so much !!!

Laser is fine even for darker skin. There are lasers for almost every skin type. The only people who have problem with laser are those who have light hair.

I did like 8 sessions of laser, and am finishing up with electrolysis for the lighter stuff.

Most of my beard has now changed to silver so I'm not a candidate for laser.  Had electrolysis on my upper lip a few days ago.  OUCH!  Electrolysis is as close to permanent as one can get although there is some re-growth it is usually light and minimal. My tech worked on me for an hour and thinks she can finish the complete upper lip in another hr. Total cost $150.  IMO that's pretty reasonable.  RE: the pain: There is prescription med combination of 2.5% Lidocaine/2.5% Prilocaine ointment (marktd under the name EMLA) which is vital to reducing and eliminating the pain. It should be applied a max. of 30 minutes prior to starting the process and re-applied to the side that is awaiting treatment again during the procedure.  There will be significant swelling of the upper lip for several days after the treatment. Once it's gone though it gone.  An interesting quirk as a result of the treatment, because of the swelling to the upper lip, one will get a preview of what your upper lip will look like should you decide to have lip lift surgery.
