Sorry if this is in the wrong section

I'm a transguy and I am having some issues regarding future kids.

I don't want to go off of my hormones and onto female hormones. Before my HRT I had a lot of problems with my periods making it impossible for me to go to school or work. An issue I would discuss further with a dr.

I'm trying to find a doctor to talk to who is accepting of trans couples. So far the dr's my spouse and I have reached out to are saying that a surrogate needs to be chosen before I can freeze my eggs. That doesn't sound right to me and I can't choose a surrogate since I'm about 3-5 years away from wanting to bring a child into my life. I highly doubt a surrogate would follow through on their word with such a long waiting time.

Does anybody have any advice or insight on this?

Well this is just an example... they do not write anything about surrogate people...

maybe you could ask a few clinics...

on a side note, hrt is not a sure thing for permanent infertility... if you would go off hrt later you might-just might, but there are people who have done it-be able to get fertile...
there are trans woman for example who were able to reproduce five to ten years after hrt... after stopping for half a year...

and science is making all kinds of progress... there was an article about the possibility of making egg cells from the skin of males in a few years...
of course without guarantees...

I feel the need to say that there is a higher chance of being infertile than there is of not being. Yes there are cases of SOME being able to after stopping hrt but it is very unlikely. So freezing eggs is definitely something you need to do.

You do not need a surrogate to do so! You need to contact places that freeze eggs for you yourself if the doctors will not help you!

Remiie, not to sound confrontational, but do you have any studies to back up what you are saying?  My understanding is there have been no academic research that has yet to bore this out.

Although the standard practice may be for health professionals to recommend freezing your eggs prior to beginning testosterone treatment, there are no studies that have shown the eggs to be damaged nor an inability to procreate after testosterone use.

One of the problems in being able to study things like the above is that there has just not been enough cross sex hormone use over a long enough period of time for longitudinal studies.

The going wisdom for MTFs is that the average length of time from stopping testosterone blockers to conception is 6 months.  I have heard this from various professionals, but have not personally read any scientific studies on this.

I would be concerned because there's higher chance of undesirable epigenetic changes(faulty gene expression)..and success rate for frozen eggs is low(it's better for frozen embryos)..I chose to stop short HRT(2 months T),and after unsuccessful chemical pregnancy..I concieved again and got healthy baby boy..

The best option would be that you go off hormones, wait few months and try to concieve.

I've read stories in which sister or female relative was egg donor,or even father helped infertile son..all kind of strange stories that ended with success, and that's most important..

My wife is expecting our first child in less than 6 weeks! We used my eggs and my wife is the surrogate. We live in Canada and went to one of the best trans friendly fertility clinics in the world. Dr. Hudson is a kind, compassionate human being who is very direct in how he sees your treatment. We have to remember that we're all different. Regardless of how long we've have or haven't been on testosterone. There is hope for those who are willing to do what it takes to start their family. Like our personal journey, the fertility journey has its twists and turns.
If anyone wants to talk, I'm here for you.

Here's a link to an article by doctor Hudson about trans fertility.

Edit: in addition to this comment I would like to say that embryo freezing has come a long way. In deciding where you need to go for fertility treatment, I highly recommend finding a clinic that has a reproductive endocrinologist on staff.

thank yall for the responses

My spouse and I have decided to adopt instead. I'm completely unwilling to go off my hormones and onto fertility hormones for such a low success rate.

We'll be happier with adoption.
