Op-ed: Breaking My Silence As A Trans Man Who Attempted Suicide

The Advocate/by SGT. Shane Ortega    07/14/2015

"A huge percentage of transgender people (41 percent in the U.S.) attempt suicide, and suicidal thoughts dot the storyboards of many of our lives. We trans rights advocates talk often about how to end this epidemic, but nonetheless a certain shadowy silence prevails."

Thank you for sharing this, as part of our saddest statistic I take this topic quite personally. Every self inflicted trans death crushes my heart but it also raises my ire. Pieces like this are part of becoming the change we want to see in this world, for me. In my book calls for compassion are of greater impact than any shouted words of anger.

I shared this link elsewhere on the web. Thanks again...
