I have been on spiro for 3 months and "low dose" hormones for 7 weeks.

I have an older model car where the rocker cover gasket was leaking which I had replaced some 3 weeks ago.  Not sure if the mechanics cleaned all the oil off the block or there still a leak from the gasket or somewhere else.   Anyway, there is still a odor of oil coming from the engine bay which is making me feel ill.  I called in to the service centre that replaced the gasket, and the general taste in the air also made me feel sick.  The engine has been leaking oil 6 months prior to starting HRT without feeling nausea, just the general smell of oil.  In my teenage age years in the 70's and 20's, I have rebuilt entire engines and serviced my own cars where I never felt sick.

Has anyone else felt or got sick from engine oil fumes or similar.

Odors definitely are much more pronounce on hormones. I definitely can feel repulsed and even sick with certain odors.

Your sense of smell definitely improves on hormones. I've always had a very sensitive nose and now I think I could give a bloodhound a run for its money. I'm very sensitive to male body odour and find it, for the most part, unappealing. My better scenting ability is NOT a benefit to my nursing career.  :icon_blah:

I drive a 96 mustang GT and every once in a while when they change the oil the spill a little on the exhaust manifold. I smell that stuff for several thousand miles until it burns off. I don't get sick but I hate it. Overall, I think my sense of smell has gotten better because there is more moisture in my sinus cavities making them more sensitive to smell. I detect faint scents that others often don't notice. Now my sense of taste really hasn't improved that much and when it's important, I have to rely on others.
