Transsexuals should form a society for transsexuals where HRT, hair removal, breast prosthetics, extensions and wigs binders, packers, MTF-specific makeup, and panties for tucking are provided at low cost and minimal profit to other transsexuals.

I've thought about it. Course I'd have to make enough to live on. Something like a Trans - network. But reality is even a doctor willing to a provide HRT at a low rate still has the expensive malpractice insurance to deal with. But the other services are a possibility.

Why would it need to be transexuals?

the hrt would have to be scrapped. drugs in general do have costs, in cases where a person recieves drugs cheaper or even free is in an area where local governments agree that providing the drug is in the best intrest of the area. but the cost is still their, just payed by tax.

i have witnessed here, binders and cheaper alternatives pass on from one member to another, for thr cost of shipping fees. a store bought gaff is, no better then a normal pair of panty briefs of the same material. and it much better to maje you own, with the waist elastic of a normal pair of panties AND a tube sock. (its much cheaper with the added benifit of you being able to taylor it to your own body.

i see no reason why a trans person should be able to get hair exstenrions and other hair removal products cheaper then anybody ells.

But, the goal of trans activisme, for the most part is to work towards a society where the availability of needed pructs is increased and prices of them decreased, in addition to combatting descrimination and transphobia. you idea isnt crazy in the least :p

so maybe the hair stuff should be scrapped, but something needs to be done to make transition more affordable.

Here in the US we had a great tradition of co-ops, mutual societies, and communitarian type societies.  Farmers often went in together to get expensive equipment that was used for short periods of time.  Mutual savings banks and credit unions were owned by the depositers-paid higher interest on savings and charged less on loans.  The banding together of people for mutual benefit is as American as apple pie, no matter what some conservatives say.

Why should transgender people get hair extensions etc. at a cheaper cost? They shouldn't UNLESS you could produce 10 associated customers on a continuous basis.  Then why wouldn't you want a discount?  Part of my job was to purchase large quantities of concrete, machinery, lumber for a large general contractor.  The same concrete is much cheaper per unit if you are buying 10,000 cubic yards than if you are buying 100.  Producers would rather take a lower profit margin on larger, guaranteed volume.  That gives an underpinning of support so that they can then get the higher margins on the smaller contractor.  You have to fight for the best deal possible.  That's the difference between a profitable company and having to lay off all of your employees.

I have seen the suggestion made on this site at various times to try and set up a commune type situation someplace in US for people under the transgender umbrella.  Someone always starts screaming about communism and how it could never work.  I say no, a mutual support society run under business type principles is possible.  Not to make a lot of money, but to build our own safety net of sisterhood.  The problem, I think, is that most people refuse to see their family situation as a business.

Everyone has to work.  People with higher skills mentoring newbies.  Hell, it would be nice to have someone show you how to do your hair and makeup and not expect to be making a fortune off of you. Thats what sisters and BFFs do growing up.  Maybe run a couple of different business that are openly trans. or even proudly sell themselves as trans.  Here in Tampa we have "Hamburger Marys" a chain that has drag queen waitresses and performers at night.
Before you go EWWWW, remember that women have always sold the image.

Any suggestions? or am I just an idol dreamer?

I'm FTM and I'm in the process of losing weight and when the binder I'm using is too big for me to use anymore - I plan on offering it here to mail it to someone else on here.

But again I don't know if it is permitted here on Susan's to do something like this.

I feel theres a way to achieve this. It just needs some sideways thinking.

I'm money-poor (for now) but I do consider myself a capitalist and an entrepreneur ( i make this comment because of the earlier comment on socialism and communism - that makes some US people craycray) this concept could be similar to a corporate buying/procurement group with both products and service partners. The trick is being able to commit a huge number of product/service orders and having credit to back it up. The example that came to mind for me was Avendra.

The part which always got me hung up was generally these procurement companies deal with large corporate franchises not individual people. Businesses have income, cashflow, assets and huge lines of credit.

I suppose you could start a transition supplies retail company, or an online market place. It would still might be more expensive than what you could find on Amazon. And I don't even know where to start with medication or surgeries.

I suppose you could create a company that has a VERY tailored healthcare plan and just have everyone in the world that's trans work at said company. You know how some places have an on-staff chef or masseuse? Maybe this company could have an on-staff plastic surgery team? I don't know how that would work, it would have to be a company that makes a lot of money

Kova V- You're thinking a lot larger than I am.  I'm just thinking along the lines of local. Finding hair care, voice lessons, and service type things should be easy.  Here in FL, it takes 10 employees to have a corporate insurance program.  You could at least determine to have SRS included (I think.)  FFS and surgery are more problematic.  Hair removal seems like it would be amenable to negotiation.

Maybe you have fast ways to get large streams of profits coming in, but I have not been able to find that.  My experience is that time is your friend.  Decrease personal expenses, while increasing income, and invest your profits.  Use the tax code to help finance your choice of which transitional services to get, and when.

What I see on Susans is a bi-modal distribution.  Some are very successful-have support groups- and are able to alleviate at least some of the fear and hopelessness of transition.  I was originally in the second group-no support (father used his men only group to harass me),  little financial resources, shear terror of transition and little vision of the pathway. I went back to school, found a woman who loved me for who I was-not in spite of it, and was able to acquire a little wealth.  It took me longer to get to that point than I would have liked: but I got there by setting up attainable goals.

This may sound ot but think of it when putting what you've spent into a spreadsheet or budgeting program use the amount you paid with I.E. you bought stuff that costs 5.75 and you paid 6.00 you want to enter the 6.00 just my two cents

Maybe it's me but the only really expensive part of my transition has been surgery.

Generic drugs are dirt cheap.

Therapy costs but I'm not going to need it forever.

Doctor visits are covered by insurance.

Hair removal with laser for me is relatively inexpensive.

Even clothes are cheap...
