So I'm just a little over one month post op. I had a DI with nipple graft and liposuction. My right nipple turned out great but my left nipple had this big scab that seemed a little odd but I didn't think to much of it. Well today it popped of and it has appeared that my Nipple didn't take and I now have a nice little crater in the middle of my areola. I've called my surgeon but he's on holidays and his nurse isn't back until Tuesday, so I'll call back then to find out what we can do if anything.  I'm just wondering if anyone else experienced this and if so could anything be done about it?  I don't want to have surgery again but I'm feeling quite upset about this mini crater in my otherwise awesome looking chest.

no advise to give, but plenty of sympathy.  I hope the doctor comes up with a good solution.

Your nipple didn't fall off you don't need to worry.

Sometimes a huge scab will form and fall off and create that crater you see. It will fill back in, in a few months. Just keep taking care of it and putting neosporin on it you gotta treat it like a fresh wound. Keep it covered with a band-aid or a tefla pad.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.

Thank you so much for telling me this ... calmed me a bit as I was a tad upset thinking I lost my nip ... I'm going to keep taking care of it and hope for the best!

I had looked into this a little bit and had seen a guy on ->-bleeped-<- post the same issue as you. He actually went to my surgeon too (Dr.Fischer) and he posted pictures of it. His nipple was pink and healthy all around but the center had a huge scab that fell off of it. It was very raw and crater like in the center and he was really concerned about it. The doctor says its very normal to happen and nipples fall off on very rare occasions. They say the center of the nipple can take the longest to heal.

Also don't be concerned about any pain or tingling sensations since this is just your body at healing. The only time I would be concerned is if you started running a fever and you were feeling sick.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.

Hi, unfortunately I have a problem with one of my nipples too. Mine has a vertical slit (it wasn't like this pre op and it seems to be cut in the middle) and it kind of goes inwards and looks demolished unlike the other side that is properly sticking out like it should.
I am male because I say so and nothing more.
I don't have to look or act like one therefore.

When did you have your surgery? It could still be in the process of healing

I had some scabs that went pretty deep on mine, and I'm terrible about wanting to help things along. I ended up with some craters that I thought were going to ruin mine, but they've healed just fine. It took a few weeks for them to fill back in, and they stayed completely flat until about two months post-up, then puffed up a bit. Now they're super cute  :icon_cool:

RaptorChops, it's been about 5 months since I had mine.  The only healing I noticed is the colors are evening out...

It's still probably healing I think I heard for some guys it can take a year for their nips to heal. I would just keep putting some neosporin on it. It will go away eventually

Good to know!  That's what I'm hoping happens to mine,  the right nip looks great but the left areola is still quite puffy and swollen so I'm hoping that once this "crater" heals up and the swelling goes down it looks just like my right one.

I am REALLY happy to report that what others have said here has also been my experience.  I about 3½ months post-op. I had one nipple that looked very good / normal.  The other one, I was trying to come to terms with the fact that I had lost it.  I even asked my surgeon about it at my last visit and he basically said it looked fine, that men don't have big nipples anyway but no - it would not change from what it was.  The missing nipple just looked like a sunk in area in the center of the areola on that side.  Just this last week it HAS started popping out a bit!!!  It is certainly not as defined as the right one, but it is not sunk in and looking like something is missing - like it was until last week - either.  Woo Hoo!!

I am thrilled - so don't get too down yet!  I know exactly what you were feeling as I had been there (silently) for many weeks!  The surgeon said (I think it was the day of the nipple reveal)  that it looked like I was going to loose most of that nipple - he could tell because the scab was much thicker.  He never really said anything else about it until I asked on the last visit and he said men don't have much nipples anyway !  LOL  So I had just been trying to accept it.  I kept telling myself not many people would see me with my shirt off anyway and if they did, maybe they wouldn't notice a missing nipple over the two long scars anyway.  So, I am a happy camper this week.

In the end - I still would have had no regrets from having the surgery either way.  I am VERY happy with the way my areola's turned out!  I had seen others (in person and in pics) where their areola's looked like they had been sewn or stapled on - noticeably sitting above the skin - I was very happy when mine did NOT look that way.  From the very first reveal I had a big ->-bleeped-<- eating grin on my face every time I look at the new me :)
