Hi there - I'm Amy, I live in Indiana. I discovered my inner female just a coupel years ago, but in that time I have made a lot of progress towards accepting myself. I have many wonderful friends who are so supportive.

My personal concerns are how to explain my true self to my kids (10 and 13), what do they need to know, how will they react. It's very scary. But I am just feeling like myself more and more all the time. Almost ready to go out with a girlfriend.

Love to all!

Allow me to recommend 'Liz - Day by Day' ('lizdaybyday.wordpress.com').

She has a family - wife, children, and grandchild.  Her coming out has been difficult but maybe you and your family can learn from her struggles.

Liz is now at Thailand prepping for her GCS and BA.

Amy,

I just had this experience of self realization after 50 years. I have three kids about that age. I am taking it slow and have only informed my wife and one other close friend. I expect to talk to my kids but it may be a while yet.

These are my experiences. We are all in different worlds. But I can say, the world our kids are growing up in is so different than even 10 years ago. However, you are their parent. If I tell my kids first, I'll let you know how it went.

With warmth,

Joanna

Hi Amy,

As the parent of a young child, I can identify. Kids are resilient, but there's no denying the incredible stress this puts on them.

If you'd like to connect, feel free to message me.
