Hello guys ! This will be my second post on this forum.
I am a Pre-T Transman. I'm really looking forward to start HRT soon.
But I still confused on finding the right name for me in the future. So I'm wondering if you guys have any recommendation for me.

Just a little background of mine :
- I used to pretend to be a guy named Ronny in a game online, I created his fake account on FB and stuff like that. (One of the reason, I still survive until today without T)
But I really want something fresh and new, so I don't think I will use that name.
- I also like the letter 'R'.
- I'm Asian , Indonesian, but has Chinese Background (My face is not too chinese).
- If I have to choose a name, I don't want something that's common like : James, John (My twins bro name, lol), Sam, etc.
- Justice, strong (warrior), leader, honesty.
- I really want a name that is related to my personality but also good meaning behind it.
- I think a transman youtuber who named himself 'Benton' is pretty cool.
- I was thinking of Raiden before, then figured out that it has something to do with Mortal Kombat (God of Thunder)
- Then, the name Kyron came to my mind. I like it cause I never heard of it before.
People could call me 'Ky' , Ron, or even Ronny, which is pretty cool.

But still accept for more suggestion out there. If you could please help me out here, please list the name, and put down the meaning of the names. If you could also suggest middle names with it , would be great. My family name is 'Junus' (Probably, want to change that as well).

Thank you guys ! :D

I went through the obvious choices for myself, masculinizing my birthname, things that kept my initials, what my parents would have named me, popular names for my birth year, popular names for babies now, etc. I came to the conclusion that naming yourself is hard. Most names felt immediately wrong for me, and the few that I liked had too much baggage with them. I finally came across one that was "not bad" didn't feel right but was immediately offputting. It's considered unisex today but 30 years ago was a rare male name. I started testing it out in the chat here, and over time it grew on me, and now I like it.

I think finding your name is part of the journey, and it's ok if nothing seems right at first. No matter how much you may dislike your birthname, there is a good chance it's the only thing anyone's ever called you. Not everyone has an obvious name right away.

Liam-Defender
Aiden-Fiery
Ekon-Strong
Takeo-Strong as bamboo
Neron-Strong

just a few suggestions. I just did a really shortened version of my first name. Got rid of my middle and then kept my last. Play around with the letters in your name maybe you'll find something cool.

I also did that in an online game a long time ago. I made up this male persona and I ended up meeting this incredible girl that I totally fell head over heels for. I was able to play it off for 2 years and then I stopped playing and stopped talking to her. I found her on Facebook about 10 years ago (before I transitioned) and I sent her a message apologizing and telling her the truth. She never responded back and I still feel guilty to this day and miss her.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.

Liam is one of my best mate name , and yeah it's a cool name haha
Aiden also sounds amazing but can't see myself with a name starting letter 'A'
Takeo sounds Japan, Ekon sounds like Akon or Echo
Neron without n is pretty cool , Nero haha

Wow, that's totally what had happened to me as well. But we decided to meet each other, and before the meeting, I told her the truth, that I was a girl, I don't have knowledge about transman back then.
She was the best ex I've ever had. Unfortunately she has someone else now. *sigh*

Ahhh the online pseudonym thing. I started doing that about... 10 years ago on forums online, and then stopped when my (then-girlfriend now-) wife found out, just to avoid awkwardness. I think that's how a lot of guys start exploring their gender/finding their way, so believe that you're in pretty good company around here.

As for a name, I like Kyron! I'm an HP fan so I like "Ron" or "Ronald" itself, but Kyron is nice and also has a youthful/fresh feel to it (depending on your age, that might be something you're looking for? It'd feel a little "young" for myself, but for someone 25ish or younger I can definitely see it). I think we're not supposed to link websites here (someone correct me if I'm wrong?) but a lot of baby names websites will let you search by part of name, so you could search for names ending in "ron." I did that and these were some of the ones that popped up:

Aaron/Aron
Aleron
Bron
Byron
Kedron
Kuron
Miron
Neron
Tiburon
Yaron

I also love the name Charon, but mythologically/meaning-wise that might be a bit loaded. Like RomeoEcho said, there's nothing wrong with going through a few names, trying them out to see what fits; it took me a while to come to Eli, but when my partner and I started using it (and I actually made an email with "elliot" in the name), I found myself feeling more and more comfortable with it. Try some out, find what feels best to you.  ;)

That's a sweet story buddy. It's nice to finally have that partner for life.
As for my age, I'm pretty young I guess, 19 turning 20 this October.
People keep telling me that I look 15 , and worst was 13, probably cause I sound like a pre-puberty guy, since I'm not yet on T.
I think you could ? I found a post of people sending a link of their voice recording in this forum (including me,lol).

Could you please tell me the reason why you like the sound of Kyron ?
Cheers mate ! :D

Still think this name is wicked and I like that you can get two nicknames out of it, reckon it's a solid choice!

Also in terms of choosing my name it was just a similar male version of my female name which my mum chose, I like it because both have the same nickname. Middle name I have a few ideas but main thing is I want it to be the same initial and on monday I just blurted out that I would like my sister to help choose it too, in fact my immediate family in general so we're gonna sit down and look through a baby name book together which I think will be nice and good family bonding :)

Hey dude,

Here are some 'R' names I though were pretty cool:

Reese
Rowan
Rio
Ross
Rylan
Rafi
Raine

Good luck, brother.

Really like Kyron, but a good friend of mine said it sounds like a very made up name, something like Dathvadder , or I will name myself Goku kind of thing.
Don't really get what he means but yea :\

@inmotion , it's nice that you get to choose your name together with your family , I wish I could do the same thing but I don't live with them, unfortunately.

@Escher , thanks buddy ! Rylan sounds cool.

I don't think it sounds made up, unusual but not made up like I said before if I heard it I might out of lack of knowledge think it's Japanese or some form of Asian although I would've imagined the spelling to be like "Kai" as apposed to "Kay".

Also if you'd like to choose with your family, maybe you still could via email/skype/phone etc?

Found this when I was looking at Kyron:

Keiron \ke(i)-ron\ as a boys' name. Keiron's name origins are Irish and Gaelic, and Keiron means "black". Keiron is a variation of Kieran (Irish, Gaelic): name of a saint (sixth century) who was admired for his generosity. Keiron is also a variant of Kyrone; modern name: Tyrone (Irish, Gaelic) "land of Owen" with a K-.

Keiron has 15 different forms via Kieran, Kyrone: Ciaran, Keiran, Keirohn, Keirone, Keirown, Kernan, Kieren, Kiernan, Kieron, Kierren, Kierrin, Kierron, Kiran, Kirone and Kyron.

I think it would be a pretty sweet name for an Asian dude.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.

Janus is similar to your family name, and is the Roman god of transitions and beginnings, so that could be cool.

I like Kyron too. Ky is a cool nickname and it's neat that your first masculine-identity name is hidden in there.

@inmotion : I really want to, but I just came out to them and it's too recent for them to consume everything , my parents still want me to think more about it before taking T. They think that T will bring damage to my body and lower my health condition, give me cancer and such things.
But, fortunately, they didn't treat me differently also didn't kick me out after telling them the whole thing.
What matter the most is they still let me go back to Australia to continue my study.

@Raptor : Yeah, I've done some search about that name too and found some amazing meaning and personality that suites me behind that name.

@Captain : wow, I never know that, that's pretty cool, thanks for telling me.

@For all of you : I'm just wondering , when do u finally decided to use your chosen name ? After or before transitioning ?
How do you tell all of your friends and family , especially people that u just met, that you're not using your old name anymore ?
Was it so hard to make them use to it ? Did any of your friends make fun of your chosen name ? And ask some weird stuffs ?
If you don't mind please share your story? that'd be great, thanks!

In my case, I'm still pre T but always pass when I use male toilets and when I introduced myself to new people , but then it gets awkward when they found out my name that sounds like girls name, and my voice sounds like a little boy.
That makes me want to start using a guy name, but sometimes , I'm afraid that I will not like it then change it. (that's very likely though, cause I used to be Ronny)

If you feel like having a masculine name will immediately improve your social interactions you might as well go for it. I have plenty of cis friends who have changed their names over the course of our acquaintance, so I don't think it'd tip people off that you're trans, even.

Any name, I think, needs to be tried on before you know whether it's a keeper.

I started slowly. Trying to decide if it's a keeper before I ask everyone to use it. I'm not 100% yet. In the menatime, my every day life I use a neutral nickname. But I prefer my chosen name now already. I started online in the chat here, then a few trans friends by email. Then I had a phone call with some of them. Strangers that I never expected to interact with again. I told my partner a few weeks ago and now we're taking a vacation where I will be 100% male for two weeks and use my name entirely other than travel tickets that need to match my ID. I honestly don't have a plan. But I was really nervous about the name thing at first and this pace has kept it so that it always just feels good.
