So, I know plenty of people have posted on this. I have been on HRT for almost 9 months. I have seen very little change in body hair. Mostly I've noticed the hair on my arms has gotten thinner and lighter. That said, hair on my torso hasn't changed much, and also, I have thicker male pattern thigh hair which drives me insane. I wasn't particularly hairy to begin with. I would say pre-transition, I was pretty average on the body hair front for a 26 year old biological male, a little on my stomach, a little on my chest, and then thicker hair on my legs and thighs. I'm getting to a point where I'm just considering biting the bullet and spending the money to laser the hell out of my body (dark hair and light skin), but I wanted to get some opinions on how long one should give HRT to diminish body hair before seeking out other measures?

Body hair is one of those things it is different for each of us. I won't need body hair removal on the most part myself, but others have. Our mileage may very based on age, dosage, and genetics. Hugs

Wax it. Wax it all. Then wait and see what comes back.

Totally agree with Kelly.  Three or four full body waxes over the course of 18 months and I now have only very light and fine body hair. Admittedly I wasn't that hirsute to start with but waxing the hair every four months made a real difference, once the HRT really kicked in the regrowth was very different.

Due to unemployment poverty I tried the experiment of not waxing. All my body hair has either gotten thinner or turned to velus. I still need to shave parts of my body, but most girls do. Makes me wonder if waxing and such really have a permanent effect. Of course, I still shave my face. YMMV.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

Give it time, stay on your HRT & make sure your E level is high & t low. It will all go away in time. I was the same way a year or so ago however now it's so nice to have very little body hair, far less facial hair.......short term, cream or waxing but hrt & time works the best. Good luck.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

Before E got a real hold (high levels) I epilated (oh how I epilated)
Now I have no body hair (yay) reduced leg hair (esp lower) and much less (finer and downy) arm hair...

Weird thing was, I did not initially notice the reductions then suddenly (almost  ::)) It was gone, especially the body hair, and I could not epilate the back... that was shave, but still went!

I tried waxing. OH MY GAWWWWWWD. Painful!

Plus I have PIH so it darkens the spot. I have to do a new strategy with waxing.

So right now I'm shaving. The lower torso hair like by my stomach etc does get removed with wax.

Interestingly enough hair to the sides like my breasts, I pulled with the tweezer and they haven't come back... but the thought of going over my whole chest with a tweezer... ugh! I don't have the patience for that.

Also I've switched from generic estradiol to estrofem, which I had bought online. It seems to be more effective. Or maybe it's that they're harder to dissolve so they work sublingually better. I asked my nurse practitioner about injections she said she doesn't see the need for them and to just continue with pills.

I did not have much torso hair when I started HRT. Now I just have very fine small blond hairs.

Interesting. Zil actually has me on injections. I'll have to ask why. And I actually have gotten into the bad habit of plucking a lot out of my chest :-X. Right now I use an epilator... A lot. But I still don't really see any thinning.

Waxing if done by someone who knows what they're doing is fine, yes it hurts for a few seconds, but the pain goes away very quickly.

I do my arms, I've always hated body hair, in fact its one of the main reasons that started the gender issues I had.

heres what you do if doing it at home.
Buy the best wax strips that you can get, heat them with your hair dryer for 20 seconds, once placed on your skin, rub for a good 15 seconds, then rip and do it quick
Yes! I'm single
And you'll have to be pretty f'ing amazing to change that

I'll ask her next time I see her, but I asked months ago and she said just continue with the pills for now.

I'm just doing the razor and shaving, electrolysis on my face but that always grows back thicker and darker for some reason. I haven't tried waxing just yet but I am wondering is it too early to start seeing as its been almost 4 months HRT.

I've noticed the hair on my chest and stomach is thinning and dark hairs are disappearing. I went off hrt for 2 months (tried to freeze sperm but it was too late) and the dark hairs started coming back, but definitely not to the extent or length they were before I started hormones. I've been back on them over a month now and I can see it disappearing again.
