I had Srs in 2013 in Thailand, but due to issues I couldn't maintain dilation and as a result I now have a lot of skin over-granulation, I saw a gyno today who said that its to bad to treat with silver nitrate and that I would need surgery to A: remove granulation B: so they can access things inside.
They said I would need to be put out for the surgery with anaesthetic as it maybe to painful.
My worry is that my local NHS (UK) hospital would not have come across this type of surgery/issues before and would not be familiar with a neo vagina and I a, worries that I will wake up and things will be worse.
Originally the skin granulation was under control and was being treated with silver nitrate but then the nurse left and there was a waiting list (if spent the last year waiting to even get it seen to) since the last silver nitrate treatment over a year ago the granulation worsened.
Bottom line I think I would seek a second opinion from someone who deals with srs like phill Thomas.
It scares the &@£&£ out of me.
If read a lot and the net says that surgery for granulation removal should be the last form of treatment, yet the NHS hasn't tried any other form of treatment and even if they operate I am pretty sure they won't use lasers to remove the overgranulation which would have many benefits.
I wish I knew what risks there were if it was left untreated and Sophie's advice was that skin granulation would heal on its own if given time.
Bleeding is a issue from skin granulation but only if a bit of granulation tissue breaks down, it then bleeds for a few mins but we manage to stop using cotton wool or laying down with my legs elevated.
It's a pretty ->-bleeped-<-ty situation but Psychologically I couldn't cope with dilation because I was in crisis with my mental health, so much so that I ended up in a psych ward, which was unrelated to surgery.
