"A Bronx judge has scuttled a transgender woman's bid to have her misdemeanor rap dismissed because she has endured a troubled life.
"While the people acknowledge the difficulties defendant has faced in her past, her struggles as a transgendered woman should not act as a shield from criminal prosecution," wrote Criminal Court Judge Armando Montano in a July 13 decision.
His ruling denied a request from Serge Mathurin — who goes by Ember — to toss charges stemming from an alleged scissor attack in a grocery store
