OMG the pressure

So I had my first hormone apointment yesterday, and everything was going fine right up untill.....

She took my blood pressure and OMG it was the highest she had seen, So not allowed my hormoans untill it comes down.

My question is, for those of us with realy high blood pressure at this stage, what sorts of thing did you do to decrease it?

Do you eat healthy ?
Are you doing some exercises regularly, like walking a few minutes... biking... etc...
Do you have a lot of stress ?

And were you very nervous during the appointment ?

You might explain the last two things to them...

Some people are sensitive to salt in their diet and if you consume salty food or add salt to your diet that could be the cause. Other people have naturally high blood pressure and often those are the ones who die young or suffer from kidney failure. The good new is there are many medications for high blood pressure and most cost very little. Be careful when you start taking them as you may end up like me feeling light headed when you get up. No, I never had high blood pressure but I have had low blood pressure all my life.
By the way, it's a good idea to have a home blood pressure meter so you can check you blood pressure away from the doctors office. Some people spike in the doctors office (I do, sometimes my pressure is normal). Readings at home will verify if you are under control and if you have doctor issues.

Some pharmacies might even lent some for a few weeks.
And they might show how they are exactly used...

"White coat" hypertension is totally a thing, especially when they take the BP just after they weigh me and I suddenly stress about how much weight I'd recently and unwittingly gained (or, in Jill speak, being flab-bergasted...)

I found out I had high blood pressure.... a week before I had a stroke 

You MUST see about this, else you run the risk of doing what I did which I *don't* recommend. In the meantime start eating healthy - cut out salt and alcohol and crap food - and get thy butt off the couch and get outside and get walking.

HRT & BP meds are not mutually exclusive - see your doctor.

Interestingly enough - one the meds they use for HRT in the US is spironolactone which was originally a blood pressure medicine! My BP dropped so much on it my endo had to cut back the dosage
