"It has taken the mainstream media 48 hours to report and circulate the story of Amber Monroe, a Wayne Student University student who had been found dead in Detroit, Michigan. It took local Detroit-area media about 24 hours to report on facts that had already been public knowledge thanks to the efforts of actress and activist Laverne Cox and, later, the publication Autostraddle, which was one of the first media outlets to dive deep into the story."
