Molly Frances

My name is Molly, I am 35 years old, and I cannot bear the dysphoria any longer. This has come as a shock to my family and the few friends I have told. They have always known me as a rather quiet introvert, but transgendered? I am a professional and regardless of anti-discrimination rules, I believe this will affect my career. My first appointment with a professional therapist will be this coming week. In the mean time, I thought I would poke around on this forum and perhaps gain a little advice and hope.
Thanks.

Hey Molly.  A few months ago, I posted here for the first time (same age as you, too) and I can tell you that Susan's has been invaluable to me.  Stick around and you will not only find support but you will also likely find threads by people who are in near-identical situations as yours.

Congratulations on taking the difficult first steps in confronting your situation.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Without knowing what your job is, I can't say for sure but we have been moving around in society in almost all of the professions out there for over 30 years. Acceptance of us in white collar jobs has been pretty good because they are interested in your brain and what it can do for them. In addition, people who can do that type of work are pretty rare so they are willing to overlook personal flaws or differences as long as the work is done. The issues I may have had in the past were due to one religious person in the position of power but my last job I took in 1986 and my boss said I will be the one who turns out the lights when we close the business. Many of the problems we faced are fading into history. I hope your fear turns out to be nothing but fear and you go far in your job. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help,.

Big warm welcome to Susan's Molly

Glad to have you here..

Some verticals are more engaging than others, I must admit my career came first throughout my life thus far, I threw myself into it to keep my Dysphoria muted, although, very often it came to the surface then pushed back... So I/we do understand and are here to help and support you as your journey unfolds.

Best wishes and look forward to seeing you about the forum's
