Hey, I'm Alex
I live in Ontario Canada, I'm nearly 24 years old and pre HRT.

I guess you could say I'm genderfluid but I don't care much for labels. I've struggled my whole life with my gender identity, when I was younger I had a bunch of psychiatrists come to see me frequently to ask me a bunch of questions which I either didn't respond to or gave false answers to. One such question I was frequently asked was if I wanted to be the other gender. I answered "no" every time and I knew I was lying to myself then but I always tried to ignore those feelings up until recently.

I thought I could live a happy life as a male. I thought it was wrong for me to even consider an alternative lifestyle. As I got older my lifestyle started becoming more alternative anyways. I experimented with my sexuality in an attempt create a happy situation for myself and I've never had a problem being openly bisexual or expressing myself on a personal level. I realize now that I can't ignore the fact that all my life no matter what it is I'm doing I find myself fantasizing about being in the exact same scenario as a female.

I want to undergo HRT to look more feminine, I've never been more certain about anything in my life. I don't plan on having any surgeries done. My facial features are already pretty feminine and luckily I have a unisex name. I figure I'll just go the laser hair removal route to solve the unwanted body hair issue and I'm fine with having a masculine voice. I've been researching HRT the past few days and I want to learn more about it from people who have gone through the process. I'm interested in contributing to this community in any way I can and if you have any questions for me ask away, I'm an open book.

Warm welcome to Susan's Alex

I had the same questions, and answers as you have stated in your opening paragraph... self preservation maybe?

I also followed the compliant male model, really 'cause of when (years ago), I got married, had kids, such a model husband and father... hiding my secrets, getting taunted, being everything I wasn't... for all the right reasons once married and with a family!... but you know how that goes for us...

You have time on your side, despite the fact better late then never approach, its still better to live your life long and true to yourself, best wishes for your journey and look forward to seeing you about the forum's... lovely to have you on board.
