Hello all.......
I had been growing my hair for the last 13 months, and it was laying over my shoulders in nice waves, and I thought it looked pretty good, except that it laid flat against my head on the sides and on the top. Marcy told me it was time to let go, and get it trimmed and layered so my very soft, fine hair would have some body.
The other day, when we were off, we were running errands, shopping, etc. The final stop was her hair appointment. So, in the car before going in, we discussed the possibility of talking to her stylist for suggestions.
Well, you won't be surprised by this, but 2 hours later, I had my appointment, after Marcy introduced me to her stylist as her partner Bev.
So.......it was time. I was there. My nerve was there, kinda. SHE with the shears was there, and I let go and let her *gulp* CUT my hair.
I learned some new things. I learned about tipping shampoo 'girls', I learned to trust a service provider that Marcy has trusted for years. I learned the salon experience was far more more polite and social than the old barber shop experience....one I vowed I would never again have.
So, now I no longer have waves laying over my shoulders, but hair that naturally falls in the same place after giving it a toss, and hair that knows how to cover the receding parts of my hairline, and flips forward in a cute pointy curl over my ears.
Marcy and my daughter says it is far far more feminine than my old 'hippy hair'.
I was a little doubtful, and mourned the loss of about 2 inches of hair, but the next day in work, I was treated by female customers unfailingly as another female, and it somehow made it easier to use my new voice in a more relaxed way.
I think I'm getting there, slowly.
Bev
