I used to need some strong hold product on my hair pre-T because my hair was soft and curly.  But now I've switched to lighter hold pomade and sometimes clay because I find the texture of my hair has changed, more corse, oily, and wavy now.

I have the most ridiculous cowlick that's insanely obvious if i don't style my hair a certain way. I wouldn't take what he says into consideration.

As an FTM, looks are more important because they are what will help or hinder us passing in public. Maybe more FTMs care about their appearance than the average man, although there are plenty of men that take care of their hair and use product. Nothing wrong with looking good and dapper! There are some groups of guys that come into my work looking like they stepped out of a GQ magazine, and they look damn good!

I used to use some kind of hair stuff (I don't honestly know the difference in products), but I left it at my cousin's house and it's expensive so I just don't worry about my hair now (it's short enough I just push it to the side under my hat). Depending on how I decide to grow my hair out for winter, though, I might need to invest in more product, because my hair becomes a disaster area the more of it I have on my head.

As someone with thick hair, I have the same problem. I kind of let it flop and go its own thing but it gets to be such a pain when it grows longer.. that's when I know I really really need a haircut!
