"UC San Francisco has been selected among four hospitals nationwide to participate in a first-of-its-kind study evaluating long-term treatment effects for transgender youths, health officials announced Monday.

The five-year effort, funded by $5.7 million from the National Institutes of Health, will mark the first study in the U.S. to examine the long-term outcomes of medical treatment for transgender youths. Academic hospitals with dedicated transgender youth clinics in Southern California, Chicago and Boston will participate in addition to UCSF."
