Time to take the 'T' out of LGBT: Nicola Jane Chase, transgendered woman

"Nicola Jane Chase is an author and transgendered woman.

It has
taken time, but now the public has more appreciation for what the T in LGBT stands for. They may still have some way to go in understanding what it actually means to be transgender, however considerable progress has been made. We can partly thank Caitlyn Jenner for expanding that conversation and allowing the T to be equally relevant in the line up of letters. Yet I would argue that the T doesn't belong there at all."

personally i think the T should stand alone, for not all of us are gay, lesbian or bi..not unless you count being transgender and liking women being a lesbian....if so im a transgender lesbian...truthfully we should be standing alone and being proud of who we are instead of living in total fear..i for one am learning to be proud of who i am..

I definitely think that the T should stand by itself, if only to bring us more recognition. But a gay friend cautioned me that the only reason that T is there now is because on our own we (T) don't have enough strength.

That is changing now of course.

I strongly disagree with the T being taken out of LGBT.
Just as being LGB being T is part of who you are from birth, it is not a choice. The discrimination all under the umbrella face is due to the insecurity of others, removing T from LGBT will do nothing to reduce the problem but is likely to embolden the haters with the idea that if the LGB community do not accept us then why should they.
Regardless of what others say I'll always fight for the rights of all under the rainbow to be treated as equals.

This thread is on the edge of being locked.  This is the one and only warning to keep it civil.
