Great article. I've had every single thing mentioned in the article happen to me IRL. Last year I was sitting on a committee with five women and one man. I voiced a concern and the other four women jumped on me with a "how could you say such a thing" stance. Five minutes later, the man made exactly the same point and they all nodded their heads in agreement.
Wow.
& I thought intelligent people didn't do that.
Sexism really is that ingrained...
I hate it when people steal my ideas and take them as their own.
This is why I feel the need to become self-sufficient or start my own business. Not gonna happen ever but still xD.
Then again an ex from my brother works as a Process Operator in a chemistry setting.
After two months she made the process better, made it more efficient and made the cleanup more effective.
She's now the boss of an all-male team and has the highest pay other then the officials.
Confusing/conflicting...
Ok I guess that still doesn't do away the sexism she has to endure.
"But the point is that womanhood should be able to express itself in every possible way, not just the pre-defined ways. I think if there were more expressions of what it means to be a woman—in all its forms—the world would be a better place."
YES!
As much as all of this is painful, I do sometimes believe these are growing pains towards a better future.
I hope.
