Barney Frank's justification for excluding transgender from ENDA

everything hurts.  I'm not so sure we're holding anyone back, though.  In this case, I believe there is a disparity in the rationalization of dropping the T.

   I read a letter on HuffPo from an FtM who said he is gay.  He wanted to know what sense it made to create a bill that covers him if he is gay but not a TS man.  There is a large overlap in the communities that make up the GLBT group.  Some people refuse to recognize it.  Also, not every single individual person needs protection.  It's people who happen to be overtaken by circumstances where they find themselves a victim of discrimination.
   If the entire group isn't treated like one group then there will be people falling through the cracks all over the place.

Well, this has been an interesting test of who our supporters are and aren't. Trans people are the "n-----s" of the community, and it is because gays have the most horrible possible image of us. The drag queens have shrieked the loudest and have been the only ones given notice by the gay men of America. I am going back to reading Harry Potter, and put my soapbox back in the closet. Seems to me that the HRC is doing what their biggest contributors want.  I have no factual basis for this opinion so let me describe my thoughts behind this:

It seems to be no great leap of imagination that the HRC's biggest contributors are those gay people who have the money to spare.  The people who have money to spare either inherited it or, which is more likely, have very well paying jobs.  The gay people that have very well paying jobs are most likely the ones who pass as straight, given the prejudice in this country and the legality of firing anyone who is gender variant in most states.  Thus the HRC is doing what they're being paid to do - protect their biggest contributors and to Hades with anyone else.

I lean towards thinking that Mr Frank is operating under the same motivations.
