So I'm ftm and I haven't changed my birth certificate or anything like that but I was wondering when I am filling out forms if I have to put female down? Or can I put Male? Will they not accept  the form is it doesn't fit what documents say? I couldn't find anything so sorry if this has been answered.

As much as I hate this fact, but unless your being asked which gender you identify as your going to have to put your legal gender down. When I was filling out my paperwork for the court order i was baffled by items like that too. Hugs

Depending on state laws, you have transition to a certain point to be considered a legal male. Where I lived, it was being on HRT and having had a mastectomy. The laws change be state, so that is something you will need to ask or look up.

Once you can be a legal male, get your social security card changed with your new gender and name. Once you have that, you can get your driver's license changed and other forms of ID. The birth certificate change is helpful, but you don't necessarily need it unless you are getting a passport. I've gone twenty six years without having it changed and am in the process of that now.

Until you get proof of legal gender, I'm afraid you will have to put your genetic gender on paperwork. Transition is a process. Part of it is physical and part of it is all that annoying paperwork.

Head up.
