This terrifying new Windows 10 feature could 'out' kids to their parents

http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2015/08/26/this-terrifying-new-windows-10-feature-could-out-kids-to-their-parents/

Pink News/by Nick Duffy   08/26/2015

"Computers running Windows 10 could be automatically telling parents that their teens are visiting LGBT support websites – and emailing them details of their sexual fantasies.

The new operating system, which was rolled out last month as a free upgrade for users of Windows XP, 7 and 8, has raised concern over the new 'activity reports' feature."

I am running bleeding edge software on a MAC and so far the parental controls are much more primitive than that. The controls seem to just limit when a kid can use what on the computer. As for the next release of the software, who knows.

With Susan's being updated in the white list we will have to see what the new rating is and if it will trip the windows 10 alarms.

I put Windows 10 on my pitiful computer that came with 8. It has not blocked anything I have on my bookmarks as of yet. I have no porno nor controversial sites on them. A remote WiFi site did block Susan's a few years ago. The same site did not block Susan's since.

It's not that the site would be blocked - it's that it would be "logged" where a parent could see all the sites their children with accounts on the computer have been to.

I'll try not to rant, but -
I work in IT, as a performance engineer. (I make web sites go faster by looking at the pieces' interactions for slow spots.)

As a result, I see LOTS of spyware installed BY THE COMPANY to track, aggregate, and ultimately, market to us. Google knows, without a doubt, the color of your panties - for next Tuesday.

And I've been "ranting" about these invasions for years, and people look at me funny, say, "It's the price we pay for living in a free society!"
To rephrase: we give up our freedom in the name of make-believe security, so we are FREE!

Freedom of choice is what you got; freedom FROM choice is what you want. (Devo, IIRC)

We should've been fighting this <stuff> for the last 20 years at least. Outing legal gun owners? Doxxing people because you disagree with them? Threatening them on social media, because you can track them? (No joke, it's being done using your cell phone.)

If you'll give up your privacy, you've given up your freedom. And government always turns on its citizens, it's just the nature of things. Rome, Germany, Russia, USA, China, Babylon, choose your empire.

What do you think the Internet of Things is REALLY all about?
There isn't enough tinfoil in the world to cover the real answer....  But if you know rats, you know where they're going...

It's a bit late to resist now, the market's already been primed.

true things, but most people dont care about this because: What do I have to hide? Free society!  yeah, sure...
its possible to hack a modern car system with a mobile phone and a extra programm.
you can change everything, block brakes, stop the motor etc.

I'd like to see the true file the government has of me in some storage space on some computer in the middle of some granite mountain.

Some of those are reasons I don't have a 'smart' phone, put off getting a cell phone for as long as I could. I hide my name everywhere I can, and still it gets out.
