Omg..I am really excited right now and I just needed to post this. So I contacted my local LBGT community by email on Saturday after I found the free drop in clinc asking for some information on local therapist's and GP's in my general area so I wouldn't have to take the ferry to Vancouver due to money issues I don't really mind traveling but it would be easier for me if I found one closer. So I am in the shower and my phone goes off and I missed the call, and I go to check my voicemail and they had called me back, I literally screamed lol I've been waiting for this call for a few days so I was super happy to finally get a call back from someone ( after leaving many other offices for therapists and not getting a call back ) so I am talking to this transwoman on the phone and she tells me '' you don't need to see a therapist just go to this doctor ''said name '' and tell her what you want and need to do to help you transition. I'm soo excited I am shaking finally I can start this journey! this made me soo happy when today I woke up really dysphoric cause the dreaded RED PARADE! came through and I was invited ( just want to de-invite myself but that's only wishful thinking for now )

Great to know you've got resources!

You may not 'need' to see a therapist to begin HRT, etc; however, in all good consciousness I really recommend you see one so you have a professional who has your mental and behavioral well-being as their top priority.

I'm not being the least bit critical and am very happy you've got support   :)   The accepted standards of care for trans-people includes counseling.  Hope this is helpful.

Great news and take good care,

R
