Hi, I can't figure out how to add pictures but I will post my question.
I had my first clearing 40 hours ago and she had said about 4 hours my face should go somewhat back to normal in the way of swelling and redness. My face is pretty messed up. I have thick, coarse, dense hair on my chin/neck.
She did a consultation a week ago and the hair wasn't long enough so she wasn't able to do many hairs. I let it grow out longer this time and she was able to proceed but my experience was not like any I have read.
First, it was extremely painful. Now I know everyones pain tolerance is different but I have had a c section, several surgeries, breast augmentation, 7 tattoos including one on the top of my foot and a big one on my neck and like 15 piercings without much complaining. So I felt like I could handle this.
She started on the right side of my chin. The needle insertion was very very painful. Like a shot/bee sting every single time going in and while It was being pushed further and then 3 quick zaps that just added to the terrible pain. I was tearing up, cringing and grunting a lot. She did my one side for about 30 minutes and then I asked her to change sides because I couldn't take it anymore. She tried one hair on my neck and I said no way, I cant take it. She did my right side with a #3 probe and fairly quick zaps. She would have to hit maybe half of them twice because the hair would not come out easily. This side of my face is red, swollen, thick hard skin and kind of numb/sore and some red dots. Not horrible
I told her I couldn't take it and she said she would try something else. She moved to a #2 probe, turned down the zap but turned up the time. It was MUCH more bearable. Still sucked but more on the level I expected. The hairs came out much easier and I hardly felt any of the hairs being pulled out. She said this was odd that it would work better this way with a smaller probe and less intensity/longer time. She moved quicker on this side than the other.
We went almost 2 hours but there was a lot of
Now the left side of my face looks pretty bad. It looks completely different than the right side. Its super hard, blood red, inflamed, pitted, scabby and many many acne like pock marks that are seeping with orange fluid and a few bloody spots. Its extremely noticeable that the sides aren't the same. I took some pictures but when I hit the image it just brings up the HTML code and I don't see where I can actually insert the picture. I've kept it clean, max dose of motrin, the whole time, iced as much as possible and lots of fluid and have kept it covered in Neosporin. Its 40 hours later and it looks really bad on the left side.
Why would the smaller, more comfortable probe cause so much damage? Is this normal? She said she had never had anyone complain about pain as much as me and she didnt think she could go on hurting me so much. She even put on lidocaine and ice and it was still too much until she changed needles. I don't want to tear up my face like this again but I don't know if I could handle the bigger probe again. I know she used the kind that just zaps, not the chemical one or blend.
I don't normally get ingrown hairs or have acne but this looks really rough on the one side. it's already such a dark shadow from dark hair that this is bringing even more attention to it and 40 hours later, it looks pretty fresh. She cleared quite a bit, we were at it almost 2 hours but there was a lot of adjusting and pausing. She charged me for 45 minutes.
shes a super nice lady and seems like she knows her stuff but I am wondering if this is lack of skill or what is going on. I could not find information on a similar experience. I'm thinking part of it might be anxiety because letting someone touch my face is hard. I don't think I have let someone touch my face other than kissing for like 17 years and even then it was right after a smooth shave/heavy makeup.
I am debating on seeking a secondary electrolygist for a consultation and see what they say. I was going to email her too. I live in the country so everythingis 50-90 minutes away and just running up there isn't exactly easy.
I REALLY want this done but I'm in a business where I talk to a lot of people every and are up close in their face and these gaping yellow scabs look gross and everyone just asks me what happens.
Does anyone know what is going on? Is her method common? Why would the smaller probe cause SO much more damage? Why would it still be so inflamed/pitted/scabby/numb/swollen/hard/numb after 40 hours! This will be hard to grow out hair for 3 days and then spend the other 4 scabby looking. I've been shaving/laser for 16 years and just want it over. I never let anyone touch my face, even tho my husband knows why, he doesn't bring it up. But now my 4 year old daughter always wants to touch my face and she mentioned it the other day that it was scratchy and I want her to be able to kiss me when she wants without me dreading it. I know it seems a bit shallow when I read it but its terribly humiliating.
Also, if someone can point me where I can find how to load pictures I can show you a few good pictures of both sides.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this! it's late and Im a lil upset so try to read thru the rant...
