Promethea

Something quite odd happened to me a few days ago.

A very dear friend of mine, whom I still hadn't seen since coming back to Uruguay, invited me to a performance at her cultural center. I loved meeting her, and some other friends who were there, again, but that's not the point of this post.

I also saw and casually greeted another friend of hers, with whom I wasn't as close as with the others, but that we definitely knew each other, we had met several times before my transition and I even attended one of her birthday parties.

During the party that followed the performance, at some point I was in the kitchen chatting with my friend, and the aforementioned friend of hers walked in. We talked a bit and then she asked me my name. Everything normal up to here. I supposed my friend hadn't told her about my transition, but looking at me it was obvious that calling me by the old name wasn't appropriate, so she wanted to know what to call me now. After all I don't "pass", I still haven't started HRT or laser or anything, so it's clear I'm the same person.

But then she puzzled me when, after telling her my name, she told me hers.

It's a weird, good feeling. I don't know what to think of it.
Life is a dream we wake from.
