Your burial wishes?

Is your preferred method of disposal dependent on culture or religion?

Does the environmental impact of the disposal method you choose concern you or affect your choice?

What are your reasons for choosing a particular method of disposal?

Cremate me and feed an oak tree with what's left over.  I like that.

Cremate me, put my ashes in a huge mausoleum like the ones they have in the cemeteries in Peru, and then worship me. 

Why?  this body is expensive, it has cost thousands of dollars so far so I would really hate to see it eaten by maggots.

Cremation definately (I hate this body now). If I get this right  (with thousands of dollars I don't have), then...well, let me try to get there first and I'll come back...

I want to be ejected out into space in a black coffin (kind of like Spock in Startrek, but without those damned pipes playing).

Apart from that I would prefer to be cremated and placed in a bronze statue of a cat, that would be left sleeping in the sun within a beautiful garden.
Or I want my ashes made into a diamond.

This is not cultural or traditional (unless you count treky culture  ). My mum reckons if I die before her she would do me the dishonor of burying me in a coffin. That reminds me I need to update my will...

Well, first there's the part where I'm a donor so I'd wave some organs bye-bye... Then I'd prefer the remains to be donated to science (who knows? they might be useful and help another person), and lastly whatever is left of me can be cremated, the ashes tossed in a bag and shuttled into space, right at the 'Welcome Home' banners.

Then I'd prefer the remains to be donated to science (who knows? they might be useful and help another person), and lastly whatever is left of me can be cremated, the ashes tossed in a bag and shuttled into space, right at the 'Welcome Home' banners.

Take all the parts you can use and then burn me and fling my ashes in the ocean.

Ditto Dennis, I'd like the same thing for myself, science can take whatever and then cremate what's left....and fling my ashes out into the ocean!!  Any ocean will do, as I plan to travel, my final destination could be anywhere ... That was a nice idea for your dad.


This is a great topic Nero, as I have a morbid fascination with death.  Most people I know would never talk about dying and what they'd like done with their remains.   It's funny though, sometimes I think about being in the furnace and the massive pain!  It's illogical I know, I have to remind myself I will be dead!  lol

Side note:  My dad was cremated and my mother and sister went to spread his ashes over a lake in Wisconson, they went out in a boat and started to pour the ashes out and a wind came up and blew the ashes back into their faces and the boat.

N-man, are you saying the only use my body has is to find better ways to determine the actual time of death?

Well, if I end up a vegitable, or know Im going to die... Id donate my life organs to those in need and cremate the rest...
If its sudden, take what can be used <science, donor if its not too late> and remate the rest...  Id want my ashes to be spread half in the desert, and half in the rocky mountians.....  <For some reason I think it would be a waste to do the Franklin mountians and the desert...  part of me will allways count this place home... but I cant suffer the thought that it would have all of me for all time.>

    Cremate me.  I already have it arranged.  I get created then dumped into a nice marble receptacle and then buried.

    I was going to donate, but I discovered that doctors and some weirdos are claiming people to be dead now just to get the parts.  That's not the kind of world I want to be a part of.
