Hey guys, so I've not started T yet but my therapist is trying to get me a referral to an Endo to start bloodwork, so YAY, however, while these concerns I can bring up to a doctor probably, I'm gonna rant about them here.
I know it's different for everyone, but I'm REALLY hoping testosterone stops my period quickly and I won't have to deal with it until I get a hysto, which I plan on doing I do believe.

But I have sometimes really painful periods to sometimes only bothersome/manageable. I don't take pain killers because I can't swallow pills at this point in time, so any cramps I get to deal with through various non-medicated means.

I've heard that sometimes periods can get worse in pain/duration on T before they leave? That's my biggest fear. I'm slightly anemic so I get really wiped out during shark week, and I got diagnosed with Menorrhagia(where you bleed more than normal/for too long? which I don't know, 5-7 days seems normal IMO...) but I don't really need things to be worse with it.

I know no one can tell me exactly what will happen, I'm just scared of being in crippling pain from shark week like I've experienced before =')

Hey friend.

I only had two periods after starting T, and they were waaaay lighter than any of the ones pre-T. Also, much more...liquidy and fewer clots (sorry if this is gross or TMI).

Cramps went away almost entirely, though I did have one short round of uterine cramping between periods. That's to be expected in some guys, though, as everything begins to atrophy.

I'm three months in and haven't had a period for a month, month and a half.

Mine also got much lighter and less crampy when I started T so I definitely didn't experience the intense before the end thing? I also didn't know it was a thing. My process was a pretty straight forward "fade."

Before T, I did have pretty crippling cramps at times so the difference on T was pretty obvious.

I didn't have any extra or worse pain after starting T and my period was gone VERY quickly!
I started T just after shark week and only had one more period after it!

Shark Week does tend to stop very sharpish once you're on T. I wouldn't expect it to continue at least not very heavily or for a standard amount of time. I wouldn't worry about it.

Though a lot of guys get the sharks gone fast, some of us aren't so lucky--in my case, I'm still fighting them back at 29 weeks (~7 months), though I'm definitely unusual in that. In my case, my GP doesn't check bloodwork unless I specifically ask, so it's been until now that I've been checked, and according to a specialist he called, my levels are probably low. Definitely keep an eye on your levels (as your endo should be doing, of course), and if you're concerned that they might not go away as soon as you'd like, talk to your doctor about progesterone to stop the bleeding (that's what I'm currently doing, until we can nail down my dose). I believe that part can actually be done before you start testosterone, if you're anxious for it to be over with.

As for the worsening, I've not had any of that and I've had it for longer than most guys. It comes out kind of... thinner? Cramping was way less significant than it has been the first few months and is now non-existent. Duration has if anything shortened slightly. One thing I will say is that they've been pretty irregular--I used to be so consistent that I could write a calendar based on it, but now I have practically no warning. Which can be frustrating, considering that each time I think it's finally gone, it comes back a few days later, but I digress.

Congrats on being so close, dude! Hope things go smoothly for ya.

I'm pushing 8 months on T, and I got lucky for to stop pretty much overnight. The curse hit me a few days before my first shot, and oddly enough stopped the day I was going to the clinic to learn how to inject. Even with that, I still get scared ->-bleeped-<-less about it coming back when I get cramps.

I had a period shortly before my first shot. The day after the first shot I expelled some blood which seemed leftover. Haven't bled since. That was a hear and some change ago. Ironically I bled for a few weeks after my recent Hysto!
