others have had similar experience.

Just over a year ago before I went full-time I was at a place in life where people in my personal and social circles knew about me and the people at work did not. I then transitioned at work and it all evened out. Now this last month I have taken a new job where I know no one. It seems the situation has reversed where the people at work only know Erica and the people outside work have past experiences with the guy. For some reason I never thought this would happen and it feels kind of different and neat, sort of catching me off guard as usually the people at work are the last to know :) Have others been in a similar scenario ?

I know a lot of trans people end up moving often massive distances after they transision so they can start over with people that will only ever know them for who they are, people who will instinctivly see them as the person they are rather than be colored by who they used to be seen as.

I have a friend who moved from charlotte to san diago to be herself without others bringing up her past.

To be simply seen as the man/woman you are is the goal of many transgender people.

Is it the depressed little voice inside? Whispering in my ear? Telling me to give up?
Well I'm not giving up. Not for that part of me that hates myself. That part wants me to wither and die. not for you. Never for you.  --Loki: Agent of Asgard

That's my plan too.  I still see how awkward it is being around people who knew me before.  I'm really looking forward to a fresh start away from my RLE area.

Well I know that people do go to that level of change I did not. I changed jobs because I waa forced to due to layoffs. It just sort of happened this way sort of by accident and it bas created a unique situation. I wonder how long it will last 😃

Good for you Erica, that must be really nice! If I do end up transitioning, I would definitely be staying at my current employer as I feel that my co-workers would be more understanding having known me for 5+ years. But the appeal of somewhere where i was only seen in my chosen gender would be strong!

To paraphrase the words of George Constanza, What happens when those two worlds meet? You new work mates with your old friends? Have you given it thought? Prepared?
