Has anyone had experience with the Brisbane Gender Clinic - good or bad?  Especially interested in hearing about experiences from any non-binary/intersex people.

Going to call them tomorrow and see if they can help me.

It is run by Dr Gale Bearman, a wonderful and experienced person. Very grounded and very understanding.

Thanks!  That's reassuring!

I saw their website, but I was a bit afraid because of the main focus on full transition mtf/ftm.  No mention of non-binary/intersex anywhere, so I wasn't sure if they could help me.  I'll have more confidence to go talk to them. :)

I haven't been yet but I have an appointment their this Thursday afternoon with Dr Tracy Schrader. As I understand Dr Bearman isn't taking any new patients this year but I will check on Thursday to be sure.
I hope they can help you too.
Hugs,
Bobbi

Thanks, Bobbi!

I now have an appointment with Tracy on the 24th.  I may have to travel around then, though, so I'm hoping things don't overlap.

I just got back from my consultation with Dr Schrader and it went really well. We went through my medical history and mental health issues and treatments. She then told me that, from the notes my GP sent through, there was nothing medical or psychological standing in the way of transitioning and that the weight I am carrying will redistribute or be lost while on Spiro before I start on E, which made me feel good.
We also discussed things I could do while waiting for the changes, most of which I am already doing, as well as vocal training, which she told me I won't need much of as my voice is quite feminine already but I could benefit from some vocal exercises to improve tone and timbre.
I'm booked in again to see Tracy the morning of the 24th :D

Hey, that's great news! Congrats!

Maybe we'll pass each other in the corridor. :)

I had my second appointment with Dr Schrader today.

It has been two weeks since starting spiro and since I have not had any negative side effects Tracy gave me a prescription for oestradiol <YAY!>

I was a bit surprised that I didn't need to an endocrinologist but apparently that would only be necessary if I experience any side effects.

I had my appointment too... after waiting for 40 mins I had a chat with her.  She seemed to have no idea of what to make of me... but then again, I'm very odd and don't fit any of the conventional pathways.  She was nice, though, so it was a positive experience.

Off for blood tests, and getting a mental health plan through my GP...

That sounds very promising. It could have been so much worse.
