"When Jess passed a group of staff, Pauline said they laughed at her.

"The staff didn't know we were together", Pauline told Metro.
She went on: "As Jess walked past, one of the sales assistants s->-bleeped-<-ed to her colleague "that's a man" and had a laugh about it.

"I said 'that's my wife and it's not funny'. The woman who said it scuttled off and her colleague mumbled something about how they weren't saying what I thought they said.""

Early in my transition, before I was mostly passable, I was walking into the grocery store. I saw two guys behind the produce counter, and as I walked in, one of them tapped the other and pointed at me. I have no idea what was said, but it probably was similar to this. I still wish I'd gone to management. It really upset me.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?
