hey guys, does it not piss you off when you're in a store buying something heavy, and when you're trying to pick it up a guy comes over and asks, "do you need any help with that, ma'am?"

UGH. I shouldn't get pissed off but I do. and I'm probably going to break my back picking up one of those big boxes of copy paper before I ask for help/let someone help me. :|

No. Actually, I appreciate it. Not that it happens or anything. I've always appeared 'sturdy' and 'capable', despite appearing female.
::) And I really am rather allergic to any kind of labour. I just don't look it.

That doesn't happen to me at stores.

If it's something that is genuinely too heavy for me, I don't mind.

What I hate is how, at my work, where everyone is female, they all insist on helping me to lift things that I can lift easily. Or rather, things that I could lift easily if I were permitted to lift them square, but which are uncomfortably heavy to lift while leaning slightly sideways, as I must do to lift them cheek-to-jowel with a partner. This is especially annoying considering that my 'Ant Strength' (I am tiny, I am strong) is now well-known there since half the crew once watched me (quickly, before they could offer to help) chuck 80-some pounds into a chest freezer.

Lucky in England. You dont have people like that at stores. You just get asked male or female if you would like help with packing your shopping!
