so i had keyhole colonvaginalplasty. i had had my SRS 4/5 years ago the normal way but only had 5/ 1/2 inch depth im a tall girl and my bfs are always tall and well endowed so i decided colonvaginalplasty was the only option to have a normal sex life as i bleed during sex and it hurt.

so i had  colonvaginalplastythough the belly button. The piece of colon used died causing an infection
i had to have emergence surgery to get ride of the dead piece and put another piece in.... this time through the normal bikini line ( C Section) route. This Op ended with me having a Fistula.

After weeks of being in hospital bloated and sore losing 2 stone looking and feeling dead, throwing up all the time and being in a fragile state, i slowly started to recover and felt somewhat better and they have sent me home.

the fistula sometimes stops randomly and then starts again,  They have told me they think this will heal by itself  i am passing stools the normal way but then have this gross stuff come through the vagina. can anyone tell me if they have had a fistula and if it healed by itself or did they have another operation or ect?

sometimes i have moments where i feel like this will all clear up by itself and then at other times i just feel like im going to be like this forever  :(

Bromelain is also part of fresh pineappple.

Is your nutrition healthy ?
Fresh fruit, maybe even organic, enough vitamins ?
Enough protein like eggs, enough vegetables in a healthy variety ?
Healthy fats like avocado oil...
Not too much high sugar drinks...
not too much coffe and black tea...
just ask your doc...

Do you do pelvic floor exercises? You should be able to do those and flex your PC muscle and I've heard it helps with fistulae. Or at least to prevent a reoccurring fistula. I'm so sorry you are going through this, my mom had it after having me. She said it was awful or something, I couldn't hear her though my fingers and my yelling "lalalalala."

I'm sorry you misunderstood.
Nutrition can hep.
And there is a link to betadine solution.
Maybe even the probiotic solution which might help with beneficial bacteria.
You might discuss this all with a doc

There are some that heal on their own, as Obfuskatie said.
Someone wrote knowing what to eat might help... so no excessive gas etc...

There are also psychological effects...
you might try to relax, and maybe daily envision a picture of a good outcome...
seeing yourself healthy and enjoying your time...

wishing you well and giving you a big *hug*

I am sorry you developed a fistula, and understand how you feel. I too have a fistula. I developed mine just over a month ago, after SRS. I was still in the hospital when it was discovered. They told me that the tissue around the fistula was too swollen, so it couldn't be repaired until the tissue was healthy and the stitches would take. Since I didn't have any symptoms of infection, they kept me in the hospital under observation, and was going to release me. They said it had about a 20% chance of healing on its own, but would most likely need to be repaired from within the rectum. Then I developed an infection, and I had to get another operation to bypass my large intestine called an ileoscopy. I was devastated, but at least it is temporary, for about 8 weeks. till then, my waste is passed directly from my small intestine into a bag.  After my ileoscopy, they said the fistula has a 50% change of healing on it's own.  Why they raised the chances of it healing on it's own from 20 to 50% I don't know, maybe because no stool is being processed thru my large intestine anymore.
Anyway, they told me not to dilate more than a few inches until it heals or can be repaired, but I am going in the full length of my smallest dilator, which is 4 inches. I have gone thru so much I don't want my vagina to close up entirely. after I am all back to normal, with the fistula repaired, and my small intestine rejoined to my large, I will consider my options for vaginal depth. I am afraid of any more operations, and right now am thinking if I can keep about 10 cm or 4 inches of functional depth, that will be ok. I hear that's not too far from the average for us. I will just have to adapt my sexual positions.

anyway, I was told I had a 20% chance of it healing by itself at first, then a 50% chance after they diverted my stool away from the large intestine.

After it has healed, you might try to dilate with estrogen cream from the gyn from time to time... some people said it helped recover some depth.
Just talk it through with your doctor.
