I'm new to Susan's place. I'm a trans woman who's back out of the closet again after spending several months back in that dreaded place.  I came out to my closest family members as a woman in February of this year only to then recant my truth at the end of March.  I couldn't deal with how distressed and pained my family was at the loss of the male me.  I tried to convince myself that it was merely an obsession, not my truth. Needless to say that didn't work and I found myself again unable to hide from the truth, which is that I'm a woman and I must live my life as one in order to be authentic and true.  So I'm glad to see so many people like me exist and I hope to find community here.

Often transgender people are sensitive and try to read others expectations...
well knowing might help...
I'd say look for what gives you a feeling of joy (within reason)...

and, well,  if you feel like it there are helplines...
they also have a chat...

Big warm welcome Ladyskater

Lovely to have you here with us and yes we are a likeminded and caring community... fully understand the anguish of a family that loses a son, husband or father, that's what held me back for years, luckily work is always so intense it sort of numbs the senses anyway... but you are right, each surge bites you harder.

Please use the site as a great resource of information and I really look forward to seeing you around the forum's.

So Ladyskater what kind of skating do you do?  I started out in Minnesnowta where ice skating was the only winter time outdoor recreation as a kid.  Recently I have been roller skating and am sporting two scabbed knees to prove it!

Welcome aboard.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! I've got an appointment with my gender therapist next Thursday, so double yay.  Tessa to answer your question about skating it's skateboarding, and concrete pools are my fave.

Skateboarding of course!  There are good reasons why even our small towns have cool new skate parks.  Roll on!

Hi Ladyskater,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Glad you found one of the key factors to life. You can't hide from the truth. It'll find you one way or another. If you use it as the core of your new existence, nothing, absolutely nothing will stop you from becoming the very best you can, and will be.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine
