Hello!! I'm Ani and I am looking for other masculine people who have started or been on testosterone. I want to know about low dosage, if that's a thing, and how to deal with unwanted body hair. (is electrolysis even possible?) And what did it take to get a therapist and/or doctor to approve it.

I have a trans friendly therapist, she actually specifies with trans people and getting them their letters so I think I have a chance.

I want almost everything T gives, I feel like I need it to be "complete." I just don't want the body hair.

I already know it's all about your genetics and such but I would still like to hear from other masculine non-binaries on T.

Thank you!!!

I'm not a particularly masculine now, but I've come from the other end. The long and short of it is T will more than likely make you hairier than you are now, even at low doses (it is strong stuff). Much of it won't go away if you stop taking it (though it will likely get finer, but facial hair is very stubborn once you have it). Yes you can definitely get electrolysis and laser hair removal. Something to consider though is that it is costly and painful and takes quite a long time. The mtf transsexual forums I'm sure will have a lot to say about body hair removal, and the ftm's will know a heap about taking T  :).

Something else to consider is there is a possibility you might end up going bald.

Neither of these are insurmountable. so if you want it and need it dealing with body hair just might just be the price of admission.

Well you could always wax the hair if it bothers you! The other person said something about going bald. If you notice that your hair starts to thin out you could always get a prescription for dht-blockers, I've heard about other trans guys doing that.

I started on a low dose of testosterone. Unfortunately you can't pick or choose what effects of T you'll experience, when you'll get them, or anything else. Regardless of the dosage, it affects everyone differently. I had a lot of changes on a low dose. Some guys don't get anything until after 6 months on a regular dose. So regardless of what kind of dose you're on, there's really no telling what'll happen when.

Body hair is kind of a universal one though. I haven't met a guy who didn't get hairier. Facial hair and fully filled in chest hair are more hit or miss.

If you go on T, I would expect body hair. If you don't want it, I would make a plan to deal with it. Electrolysis or laser hair removal is an option, but it is quite expensive. I was reading a thread here the other day and one of the ladies said it was the most expensive part of her transition. Managing it with waxing and shaving is also an option.

Thank you all!

Now I have read that on T you should look to your fathers and brothers to see what would happen to you and like, both my dad and brother can't even grow facial hair so would that in theory be what happens to me? Or will I out hair them all regardless? Like stupid questions but wondering if anyone noticed they matched the men in their family in what happened.

Also I am not worried about balding at all, as it is. Male pattern baldness doesn't occur in my family on either side.

I believe it is males on your mom's side that you should look to. Your brothers would probably be a good indication though.

Hi, non-binary male here.  I was already hairy enough way before T so when I took it I didn't notice that much difference in my arms and legs but definitely on my face. I only used to shave my upper lip but now my chin and jaw too. I am actually considering laser hair removal myself, I am not sure what the difference between that and electrolysis.

By the way, I am not on T anymore but I am not sure if more hair (from different areas) won't form or the previous ones won't come back if someone keeps taking T??
I am male because I say so and nothing more.
I don't have to look or act like one therefore.
