I really would like to finally get surgery this year. The possible recovery time has me a little worried as well though. I don't think I'll be getting DI since my chest isn't big at all. I work in a store with a lot of bending and stretching and light lifting so I wonder how long it would be until I could go back and be able to work normally? Anything more than two weeks could put a big strain on me financially.

You would be pushing it at two weeks with all the stretching and bending. People have gone back at 2-3 weeks with a desk job when they have DI. DI is 8 weeks with heavy lifting. I do not know times off for peri. You should save up the extra money to cover expenses while you are out of work to take as much time as you need off. If you feel better sooner then go back to work earlier but you don't want to push it.
