The hospital was fine but I personally would have been more comfortable in a hotel room. The hospital actually CHARGES you extra if you want to watch TV and after the money I was already shelling out for an overnight stay, I didn't want to dish out any more. One nurse offered me magazines and then never returned. So I basically spent an entire day staring at the wall. Oh, and you give your belongings to security when you go under and it took them forever to find mine so I didn't even have my phone for a while. The hospital is fine, don't get me wrong but if you have an option to get a chaperone and be in a hotel you may be more comfortable.
I certainly wouldn't advise ANYONE to disregard the law and more importantly the doctor's orders but in my case I definitely didn't feel like I needed aftercare whatsoever. Other than a very mild sore throat I felt completely normal 20-30 minutes after waking up.
