Ok i seriously suck at makeup! I have been watching youtube tutorials forever now and i still dont get foundation.

I am 3 months on hrt and i have been feeling really depressed about my appearance and cant stop looking at myself in my phone and crying.

Can someone please give me some tips for my facial features?!

People keep saying get a foundation that is 2 shades lighter than your skin tone. I dont know what my skin tone is much less what 2 shades lighter would be.

I have two foundations with me, a liquid and a powder, the liquid gives me a white ghost face and the other looks so cakey like i got slapped with a handful of flour!

I have large pores, dark circles and wrinkles under my eyes, acne scars, and a not so feminine face. I took this picture as it was the best picture i was able to get of myself without vomiting (i am not fishing for compliments, i honestly hate my face).

Please help me!

I'm a CIS female and not a makeup expert. For the record I also have large pours and mild acne scarring.

Go into an ULTA and see a consultant, they can match foundation up for you. I've never heard of the 2 shades lighter, it should match your skin plus a  powder. Ulta and Sephora have a ton of samples...I would go in there and try some. Focus on a good brow liner, mascara, lipstick too. BTW Walmart sells a 3d fiber brow enhancer called Brows Now...its by Hard Candy. The best $6 you will ever spend. I use dark brown.

Dear Jessi:

Make up takes a little time to get good at . . . what helped me was finding a cosmetics store (MAC in my case), and having three make up lessons (90 minutes each).  I spaced them out over 4 or 5 months and they helped a lot.

It was fun and learned a lot and all the cosmetics we used went home with me.  My make up guy worked in entertainment as well as at the store . . . he was fabulous and made the lessons a great experience in all respects.

Take good care,

Rachel
