just came out to my mum!!!!

So i finally did it! I told my mum!!!!
And although she was upset . . . She accepts me! and said she will be there for me through everything!!

Its such a great feeling! I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders!!
The pressure was getting far too much! And I wasnt eating and felt so ill all the time!!
I ended up driving to the countryside and phoning my mum, as i live a long way from my parents!!

We spoke for about half an hour, and she seemed so supportive!
She said she will speak to my dad, and will help me chat to him!
I dont think my dad will be supportive! But hopefully with time he will get used to it!!!

I just so glad i can move on with my life, and i start my new job in two weeks time!
Im just so pleased things are moving forward again, and hopefully i can start hormones soon!!!

Good for you! Isn't that a relief? I hope your father will be receptive. It's odd how these things turn. My dad was initially indignant saying "If I ever see you in a dress I'll beat the ever living snot out of you." Well, it was close to that. Feel free to insert any necessary expletives you feel appropriate.

But here's the thing. He came around almost overnight and became my best supporter. When I left Utah for California, my future was very uncertain. He told me that if I needed to be a woman then that is what I should do and the rest of the world be damned. He also told me not to tell anyone where I lived so that I could be left in peace. Unfortunately, that information was available on every check I sent to my ex for support.

Dad's support was unwavering until he died although he couldn't get the pronouns straight until nearly then. You'll be fine. My outing was 30 years ago or so. Many societal barriers have changed since then. I'm so glad that they have.

I just came out to my brother too. Surprisingly, he had this feel too many years ago but chose to live a "normal" life and got married. He told me to live the life he couldn't have.

Zoe, I don't know you but I'm so happy for you. I'm at the stage where I'm going to have to tell her (she keeps commenting on my hair getting long, and my eyebrows being thin etc) and I am so scared of doing it, so I can fully image the relief you must now feel!
