How much does the nose change on HRT?

I don't think that the nose would change much as it is cartilage right? It would stay pretty much the same.

So I would need surgery which I am a little frightened of.

Mine changed a lot, enough that people who knew me before tell me all the time that I look like a completely different person.  My nose slimmed down, straightened out, and got a cute little upturn at the tip.  It looks much nicer now than when I took my avatar pic.  Everyone is different though, so the effects of HRT are highly individual.

I haven't heard of many cases where HRT changed your nose.  At least not any more than normal ageing and weight loss/gain might do.  But what might change is your impression of your nose.  Your mental state changes a LOT on HRT, good or bad, so you might develop a different impression of your nose.  HRT also often leads to weight gain and fat distribution around the face, which can make the nose look different too.

Hormones will not affect your bone structure .
If your nose looks to masculin you should consider rhinoplasty and not hope on effects from the hormones on your nose cause that won't happen .

Unless you are younger than 20 , which I assume you aren't , hormones will do nothing for your bones. Bone structure can only partially be reversed by expensive corrective surgery .

Rhinoplasty is very expensive in Europe and the US ( at least 4-5k $ ) so I would advise you to focus on other feautures of your face by using eyeliner ,... to draw the attention away from your nose .

Cartilage and bone don't change... but muscles and fat can, and it's always possible there's a little of that in a given nose. More importantly, all the features *surrounding* the nose can change. I don't think my actual nose changed much, but getting chubbier cheeks and bigger-looking eyes and a narrower chin changed its proportions on my face - my nose looks more delicate now in comparison with the softer facial features overall.

My nose definitely looks different on my face. Soft tissue, muscle loss, fat redistribution, hair removal and skin quality, texture and complexion changes have all contributed.

I can totally attest that my nose did change on HRT. It got slimmer and became more feminine. I have to agree its not the bone or cartilage that will change. However, the fat redistribution and the prominence of your cheeks will change how your nose would look like.

All the best and I started transitioning in my 30's and seeing some pretty good results. It's all genetics

Mine shrunk a bunch as far as the width and overall size. The dorsal hump and broken, rough insides were fixed with rhinoplasty/FFS.

Same here. It's true the cartilage doesn't change, but all those factors you mentioned make a huge difference. I went from being certain I needed a nose job, to liking how feminine it turned out.

Mine has diminished in size by at least 40%; it's insane. I do not understand why it is being stated that cartilage does not change as this is why we shrink in stature as well.

There's a time lapse youtube vid of a trans guy, and on the flip side it's fascinating how much bigger his nose got on Testosterone.

I've always heard cartilage didn't really change, and the height differences were due to muscle loss and skeletal shifting, but I dunno. I do know the nose difference can't all be due to cartilage, because there usually is a significant change in my personal experience and observation of others. I Have noticed MTF noses often shrink considerably, and this is probably due to fat shift and the like.

That's true. And the nose and ears never stop changing (normally growing). This is why most elderly people (especially senior men) have very large noses and ears.

I also thought I would need a noise job but hrt thinned the skin and it is now narrower and has a cute tip. Before it was more bulbous.

Oh, HRT definitely altered my nose. It was wide and bulbous but now it's completely thinned down with a tip. Everyone who knew me prior to HRT wouldn't believe me that I didn't have a nose job and my sister says I have a smaller nose than her now.

My nose sucks, it's a frigging hawkbill, but it's broken so, plus side, my rhino is covered by insurance ☺
