Hairgrowth stopped - what are the reason

Hej Girls,

my hair-growth stopped at any time in 2015. So i recognize it from selfies first - no progress over a couple if month. Now, 2015 is in fall and i got no real adding on length. SRS, 2 month ago, actually superb bloodlevels with all hormones. My no hairgrowth - it marked 30cm as final stage.

How could it be and what are the reason for it ?

I'm assuming you are talking about hair on the top of your head.

Are you following and going through with the recommended ways women take care of their hair? It is important to have your hair trimmed every 2-3 months or so. Yes I know what you are thinking---but I want to grow my hair, not cut it! You actually grow hair faster in the long run if you trim every few months and take care of your split ends.

If you don't trim your hair, the ends of your hair get dry and brittle, mainly because scalp oil has a more difficult time reaching the ends of your hair. The result is often split ends, and your long hair strands actually falling off because they aren't healthy. You've essentially reached a plateau where long strands just keep falling off and your hair doesn't grow any longer. Trimming every few months should fix this.

Also proper hair care in general. Using oils on your hair at least once a week, using the proper conditioner, shampoo, dry shampoo, and leave-in conditioner is also important.

There may not be a reason, or at least not one that can be fixed; everyone's hair basically has a "maximum length," the length it gets to before a given hair falls out. For some people that's longer than others. (My hair, for example, never grows past my lower back, whereas my wife's is below her butt right now.) I second the recommendation to find a hair-care regimen that works for you, though, just in case it helps.

As you can see in my post, yesterday i was very disappointed about it again ... had some alcohol and painkillers. Vagina still hurts after the day ...

I have a lot of care for my hair - hairoil, hairwater, zinc, vitamines ... i spend over 1000$ for haircare products and things for growing. Nothing helped. Over the first 2 years my hair still growth but with 2015 it began to stop at some point. Ive no split, but very thin and dry hair. So i use hairoil products.

All in all i wished a bra-length, but it wont work for me and the shorter hair always look like a temporary solution, not as a final stage. It is always these moment where i envy to other transwomen with they hair, styles and colors. Ive no possibililties to play with my hair and styles. It takes a lot of freedom for me, for that "new life".

What about other typical factors like:
Age?
Hair growth before surgery?
Family history/genetics? MPB?

And, there is a difference between a T level being in the sub-basement and no longer having testes.

I think surgery didnt change anything in growing. Hairgrowth was okay for nearly 2 years, now in the 3rd year it stopped. My family has thin hair but ive the thinest of them all. My mom has very nice, long hair. My sister has good hair too. I dont know anybody of my family had such hard hairproblems and also no problem with growing. Ive no clue whats going on in my body and the craziest thing is: all the doctors too.

Look at here: left is january this year, right is a couple of days ago.
So, whats there? 2-3cm more? Maybe.

You may want to include foods that increase Keratin. Also, make sure your iron is at a proper level.

How to Increase Keratin

Living cells in your skin, called keratinocytes, produce a protective layer that provides flexible strength and keeps water and other external material out of your body. Keratinocytes provide this strength by producing a tough, triple-helix-shaped protein strand called keratin. Keratin is the primary constituent of skin, hair, nails and tooth enamel. The number of disulfide bonds that form between the three strands of the amino acid allow it to be flexible, as it is in skin and hair, or make it strong and hard, as it is in nails, animal hooves and tooth enamel. You can increase your keratin by consuming foods that are used to produce the keratin or by applying keratin-enhancing products topically.


Step 1

Maintain a diet rich in protein. Protein provides amino acids needed by the keratinocytes to produce keratin. For the sake of your cardiovascular health, avoid or minimize fatty red meats. Eat lean meats, fish, yogurt and low-fat dairy to infuse your body with the essential amino acids that boost keratin production and enhance your skin, hair and nails.

Consume iron-rich food. Iron helps red blood cells transport oxygen to your hair follicles, as well as to the other tissues that benefit from iron. Animal protein provides iron that is easily absorbed by the body. Iron-rich animal protein includes turkey, duck, chicken, pork, shrimp, eggs, lean beef and lamb. Plant foods that contain iron-rich protein include beans, black-eyed peas, soybeans, tofu and lentils.

Step 3

Eat foods with plenty of vitamin C. Vitamin C enhances the absorption of vegetarian-based iron, so consume vitamin C foods at the same time that you eat vegetable-based protein. Foods rich in vitamin C include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, peppers, guava, papaya, grapefruit, oranges, pineapple, strawberries and lemons.

Step 4

Boost your intake of B vitamins. The B vitamins enhance creation of red blood cells, which in turn carry nutrients and oxygen to your scalp, follicles and growing hair. Foods with vitamin B-6 or B-12 include wild salmon, trout, shellfish, white potatoes with the skin, bananas, lentils, garbanzo beans, fortified whole-grain cereals, lean beef, chicken breasts and pork tenderloin. Foods with folate include oatmeal, fortified whole-grain cereal, spinach, beets, parsnips, broccoli, okra, black-eye peas and soybeans.

Step 5

Consume foods with zinc, such as oysters, crab, pork tenderloin, turkey, veal, chicken, peanut butter, wheat germ and chickpeas. Zinc facilitates hair and tissue growth and repair and helps maintain the oil glands that surround hair follicles.

Step 6

Use keratin formulated shampoos to nourish and supplement the keratin in your hair. Keratin shampoos help repair damaged hair, protect against further breakage and add elasticity and shine. Keratin treatments, available at salons and also for home treatment, use high temperature flat irons to make the keratin bond more effectively with your hair.


  Tips 
Don't expect immediate results. The food you eat now affects the growth of new keratin. It will take 6 to 12 months for your hair to show the results.
Increased keratin will help strengthen hair, but it won't affect thinning hair due to male pattern baldness.
Avoid keratin hair treatments that contain more than 2 percent formaldehyde.

Well there are many girls, trans or cis, who can't grow hair past their back. My sister can grow her hair past her back but her hair will typically grow out damaged, so hairdressers cut her hair anyway, back to shoulder length. Maybe it is just something you will have to come to terms with? Especially since it seems you've done everything in your power to grow out hair.

Are you sure a lot of the women you see aren't wearing extensions? You'd be surprised at how many people wear extensions on a daily basis (and lie that they aren't).

Thanks, yes extensions ... i often tought about it. But its very expensive and on the other side you will damage your hair with it - even companies told you extensions wont. I'm not the kind of person going passive trough a desire. If i have wishes i do everything to realize it. The more it hurts when things not work and thats my problem. While transition nearly everything didnt work as expected and i lost a lot of power over that 3 years, because i wanted support my body where i can. At least i thought hair is growing itself - there are no reason for any stopping - and now it stops. I mean, why it doesnt stop at any other area of my body - belly or legs? If so much hair on my body and the area where i need hair stopped growing. Thats a little bit like a nightmare and you think ... wake up, wake up now ... but you dont wake up. Its called life. MY life ...
