My introduction and journey :)

Hey everybody!

I am currently the newest member here at susans and really excited. I just made this so I'm still getting used to how everything works. Anyways my name is Natalia I'm a transgender female from Newyork. I'm 20 years old. I started my transition in January after years of trying to avoid my feelings of being female. Eventually I realized that I'm grateful to be transgender it made me stronger. To me, a trans woman is beautiful inside and out and it's what I want to be known as! I am proud of the steps I have taken so far by myself to become a trans woman. I'm deff a girly girl always have been haha. I had to seek out doctors for months finally started hormones in May! In a couple of weeks I am going on 6 months wow time flies. It won't let me put a picture up yet but I wanted to. I am passable for the most part but considering voice and Adam's apple procedures. However the thing is, I'm not full time yet I would go full time tomorrow if I could but I live with my dad and he isn't fully grasping it, he's not negative about it but it trying to avoid it we have had a terrible relationship over this. My father and I have always had a rocky relationship ever sense I was little and wanted to do the girls things and liked boys. I plan on going full time within a few months. My mother family and friends are all supportive with me and grateful for that. I'm excited to be on susans because I feel so close and open with the trans community because they understand me. I look foward to meeting amazing people on here! Thanks for reading dolls let me know what you think

Welcome Natalia!  Can certainly understand the strained relationship with your dad.  Was the same way for me, but did not know what it was that caused it at first.  Finally figured out he wanted to make me into 'him' and my brain rebelled something fierce.  Been mending fences ever since...best advice, give him time to work through it.  Men, whether Dad or uncles or whatever, in our lives tend to take longer to accept than women.

Thanks you ladies for the welcome. Kaitylynn, yea I learned that the men in my life aren't as accepting but the woman are I guess it's always like that! Surprisingly my brother has accepted me which is a positive haha

Welcome to Susan's Place Nattie.

I'm fairly new here as well but it is nice to be able to support those who are discovering who they are or to be able to offer assistance.

I too have found that women are generally much more accepting of trans people than men are. Perhaps it is because men are afraid of their inner selves? "If it can happen to him, can it happen to me?" often comes to mind. Also, they are probably afraid of what other men may think of them and they will be seen as being less masculine if they have a trans friend. As you know, generally men make the rules in societies but women have made great strides toward equality but had to fight for it every step of the way. Even now things are not fully equal for women in North America let alone some other countries where women rank just above dogs.

Anyway, I digress, but you get the point I hope.

I wish you luck with your father and the balance of your journey. May it be a smooth one.

Hey Clare, you couldn't have explained it better. Men who are insecure and unsure with themselves are the ones who care about people's opinions when they are around a trans girl. Or they think it makes them less masculine but they need to realize is that I don't define their masculinity they do!

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Coming out as transgender can be such a hype leap for some, it's understandable why they fail to connect the dots. Most think it's a choice, which is the saddest thing soooo far from the truth.

I genuinely believe if this defect were to be sold and respected along with CP, autism, spina bifada, and the plethora of other birth defects, we'd have far better chances of social acceptance. Perhaps divorcing ourselves from the LGB lobby wouldn't be such a bad thing. T and LGB are sooooo unrelated.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
