Utterly Confused

Hello,

So this website has really helped me and I definitely know I am trans and I've come out to more people in my inner circle (THANK YOU EVERYONE!)

Just wondering if anyone has experience transitioning while studying?  I am hoping to go into studying veterinary medicine (after taking a year off to transition).  Is it difficult to transition while studying?  and how did you balance the costs?

Cheers,

Dexter

I have no experience of transitioning while studying.  However, university and college campuses are among the most accepting places.  That often makes them particularly safe places to transition.

Yeah I'm at uni currently, but cost isn't much of an issue for me being in the UK and using the student loan system and NHS. The only difficulty really is when operations coincide with uni deadlines, but I imagine they will be understanding if there's no way to avoid an exam or a dissertation deadline clashing with something unavoidable like that. Being on post op painkillers and trying to think clearly to do the work could be a problem though.

Had no issue with university itself, changing name and all that was a breeze.

I transitioned in grad school.  It is not an easy path.  What worked for me was keeping the two as seperate as possible.   I went full time when I was abd and got a job.

What's an "ABD"?
