Lady Smith

This afternoon while I was loading up the week's grocery shopping on my tricycle a member of one of the fringe christian churches in town walked by me, swung in close and said, 'You're a man not a woman, be a man and wear men's clothes.'
He walked on having said his piece and me being the new fearless reborn non-binary me called after him, 'No I'm not I was born intersex, so I'm both.'
His reply to that was, 'No you're not, you're a man, you need to get with Jesus.' before he strolled into the local church charity shop.

For one fierce moment I considered going after him and pulling his ***hole over his head, but then I counted to 10 and let it go.  Even on a high adrenaline rush and with my martial arts training in the picture I'm still 61 years old and need to walk with a stick due to chronic illness.  I'd cause a scene and the local Police guys and girls wouldn't be best pleased with me at all.

I'm not really angry, just exasperated that smug idiots like him have got the Christian message so wrong.  I may have left the Catholic church and abandoned the solemn promises I made as a lay sister due to the Church's position on trans-folk, but I still have a belief in the message Christ brought to the world.

The weird thing about all this is that I was dressed uni-sex femme as usual in jeans and a hoodie without any makeup or earrings so I wasn't exactly trying to be 'fabulous' or anything.

Mods, - I don't think I've written anything that means I'll have to go stand in the corner, but please feel free to edit my post if I've broken any rules.

I will never understand how people think Jesus wanted them to go out in the streets and harass people.
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

They believe that if they don't suppress or exterminate all of us that God is going to literally throw fireballs at them from the sky.  They are scared.

As totally ridiculous and prehistoric as that sounds I'm not making it up to attack or make fun of them.  I'm just repeating what I have read on several of their forums in the past week.

A lot of these people remind me of the Pharisees. They have learned just enough carefully cherry picked verses to feel empowered and they like to use that knowledge to go around and pass Gods judgement on people instead of exhibiting Gods love, compassion, and mercy.

If you are bludgeoning people with the bible you are doing it wrong. This person was very much in the wrong.

Christians tend to stay away from me for I know the Bible better then their best preacher. If you want to be strong in faith read the whole bible and then study the history and then you will know how to handle Christians.

Really reading and understanding the whole Bible and then aquiring an indepth knowledge of the last 2000 years of Christian history is the most effective way to become an atheist.  It took me a few years to do all that but between that and listening to modern Christian apologists continually misuse logic, scriptures, and history drove whatever faith I once had straight into the dustbin.

Lady Smith,

That would be incredibly frustrating.

Whether one agrees with abortion or not, it is like killing a doctor who performs abortions and claiming God told them to. Which part of thou shalt not kill do they not get. Pretty specific. Wonder if he remembers what Jesus told the crowd about to stone the prostitute.

I guess we can pray for their souls(what's worse, someone who "has not met Jesus" or a self proclaimed expert whose practices do not line up with what they are preaching) and hope their houses are not made of glass. It must be a very sad life he lives.

I have been struggling with it; but, with a decent grasp of the Bible and history I think I agree with you. God's message is for mankind(humans), not for them to wield as a weapon. God has not made the mistake, we have misinterpreted it.

Lastly. I have struggled with this thought for years. The Bible may be inspired by God and presenting his message but it was written and published by humans. Many find this thought heresy but I think it's pretty accurate.

Hope I have not inflamed anyone. I hope you can forgive that ...(searching) person(whew. A word, yeah, I can write).  Hope you have a great week.

If you read genesis you will see Adam was the first-ever hermaphrodite, for the womb was taken out of Adam to make eve,in the Hebrew it's not a rib.that's why some of us are transgender, just like the giant gene still exist for mankind was giants till the flood and the after effect.I'm not a Christian for I follow the way the messiah taught. This is why a lot of my life is private.

To my absolute surprise the guy in my original post who'd given me a hard time about being gender diverse  came up to me today while I was out shopping and apologised.   :o

I feel that trans people people are a challenge to some people's perceptions of what a Christian is suppose to look like. I wonder how these people would feel if they confronted someone like John the Baptist? He certainly wasn't many people perception of this but he was God's soldier. I have been a Christian for 43 years and God loves me just the same.

Sorry you had to face that. Fortunately liberal, affirming and loving churches are coming out in support of us all the time.

I truly believe that some elements of society are in such fear, because they know that as society changes, they lose the society embracing of their culture, when in fact society mainly give lip service to that at best. They realize they become more marginalized the more open society becomes. The message of Christ was absolutely nothing like this.

Some 'christians' make us real christians look bad.

Im sorry you had that awful experience. He was just rude and ignorant.

Actually Jesus would punish people like him and not people like you. But you did right by not letting it escalate. Blessed are the meek.

Hugs
